Update to Little Math Version 2 now!

All Little Math users may now update to the latest version of Little Math - version 2! Little Math v2 was created specifically to bring Little Math up to par with Little Reader v2 in terms of the look and some of the features. Also, we fixed several bugs that were found in v1, so we highly recommend that you update to Little Math v2!

Do note that we will no longer address Tech Support inquiries for older versions of Little Math (v1.6.xxx or lower) - we will only entertain problems encountered in Little Math v2 or newer. What's new in Little Math v2: New Interface Little Math 2.0 comes with a new look to help you find what you need easily. Some screens were renamed too, like  Play Courses (old Home screen), Play & Edit (old Playback screen) and the Media Library (old Numbers Library). Override and Lesson Settings The entire Lesson Settings and Override Settings windows have also been overhauled to make them easier to navigate and use. Child Profiles If you're using Little Math for more than one child, create Child Profiles for each of them so you can keep track of each little one's learning progress. More Fun Stuff Want to make your math lessons more exciting? Switch the icons in your lessons with one of the colorful new Icon Sets from the Icon Sets library! If your child is tired of regular flashing, try switching to a different Transition Effect to spruce up lesson playback! (Go to Tools > Additional Settings) Built-in Picture Editor and Easy Voice Recorder Now you can edit or create new icon sets and voice sets using Picture Editor and Easy Voice Recorder, which come built into Little Math v2! Extended Language Support We're localizing Little Math into several languages which you can select during installation. Just pick the language you want to use and the software interface will be in your selected language! NOTE: At the moment Little Math v2 only comes with the English interface. Other languages will be released in future updates. And that's not all - don't forget that you can teach math in different languages by using different Voice and Word Sets! Oh good, I have been waiting for an update of Little Math. Hopefully my LO will show more interest in LM now. She is in Day 33 and it has been hard to make her look at the screen. Thank you for the update.

By the way, I have some questions.

Why are the sound of the lessons by default (random each playback)? Is LM designed to be used in this way? Should I use the program in all 3 different languages (English, Chinese and Spanish) or should I use the override option to change to all English?

In Override Settings, part of the Display Settings under Numbers and part of the Display settings and Math Symbols are hidden by the frame. Could you please adjust that?

When I played the lessons as it is under Auto-forward, the voices are all cut off (I think because the slides are forwarded too fast.) Should I use the Override function for this as well?

Hi everyone!

For those who encountered problems after updating to Little Math v2, please try these suggestions: 


1. Content problems (e.g., trilingual lessons, missing math symbols or any missing lessons)

We've also updated the content so it works better with LMh v2, so re-download and import your Sem 1 or Sem 1 and 2 content from your account page. You may simply import the newer content without removing your old content (or without uninstalling / reinstalling LMh). In case you want to remove the old Semester 1 and 2 courses, you can do that in TOOLS > Software Information - just click on the Delete button for the courses you want to remove.

** The new content files also make use of all the new icons, so if you want a faster way of applying the new icons to your lessons, just import the new content files!


2. Sound playback problems

If you can't hear anything, check the volume in Little Math and your computer / speaker volume first.

If the sounds are cut off, run the Audio Diagnostic Tool as an initial solution. Click here for instructions

If you still can't hear the sounds completely after the Audio Diagnostic Tool has finished all its adjustments, please create a Diagnostic Report and send it to us at support[at]brillkids[dot]com. Click here for instructions


3. Cut off or misplaced buttons, tabs or screens

Make sure your display is set to the default 96 DPI setting (in Windows Vista / 7 / 8 this is labeled "Smaller - 100% (default)"). Click here for instructions

If you're using custom DPI, it will definitely cause some display issues for the buttons and other elements in your software window.


4. For other problems

The child profiles are great! I have been hoping that this would be introduced.

However, sometimes both my kids watch a lesson together. I would like to be able to choose not just one at a time, but multiple profiles as well.

Hi ashlymcgee, the courses labeled "BrillKids Math Semester 1" and "BrillKids Math Semester 2" are the courses optimized for Little Math v2. The lessons themselves are exactly the same as those from the old content (i.e., "Semester 1" and "Semester 2"), so you may simply continue playing the lesson you were in before the update.

To avoid confusion, you are free to delete the old courses so you'll only see the new courses in your Little Math. Just go to the TOOLS > Software Information screen and click on the "Delete" button beside the old courses.
