We're Looking for Translators for our Little Reader Software

Hi everyone!

We're looking for native speakers of the following languages who are long-time users of Little Reader:

- Spanish
- French
- Russian
- Japanese
- Chinese Simplified
- German
 - Arabic

This is going to be a "paid-in-kind" position. We are looking for 2 people to handle each language: 1 main translator who will get a $100 coupon for use at the BrillKids Online Store, and 1 proofreader who will get a $50 coupon for use at the BrillKids Online Store.

WHAT'S INVOLVED:

The translator will need to translate the Little Reader SOFTWARE (not the curriculum.) I will prepare a translation kit for the translators and proofreaders, and they will use a special software (called Babylon) to translate all the words and phrases used in the Little Reader software program, Support Tools, Picture Editor and Easy Voice Recorder.

WHAT WE REQUIRE:

Potential applicants must be tech-savvy, a long time user of Little Reader, a native speaker in the language he/she is applying to translate, and must have a Windows-based computer in order to install our translation software.

The translation strings aren't too many, and the project can be done in a day or two at most. We will need someone who has some spare time in a day to do this, and someone meticulous to double-check each translator's work.

HOW TO APPLY:

Write me an application of sorts by opening a ticket at our Support website at http://support.brillkids.com/.

Make sure to use the following subject: [LRv3 TRANSLATION] *language* - *position*
Example: [LRv3 TRANSLATION] Spanish - Translator/Proofreader
(This will be a test of sorts to make sure you can follow directions.)

Include the following information in your message:
1. How long have you been using Little Reader?
2. Are you a licensed Little Reader user?
3. Are you a native speaker of the language you want to translate?

We hope that this gives some of you parents who are interested in the project a chance to make some extra spending power for our upcoming Little Reader Language packs and other products.

I am a native speaker of Russian and a licensed translator. My child and I have been using LR for about 3 months (licensed user).
I'd be happy to take part in the program translation!

Thank you to all who volunteered their time! I will be replying to all of you in the next couple of days so I can finalize a working list.

By the way, kindly note that these translations are for just Step 1 of our plan to help people from other countries (non-native-speakers of English) to use our software. These software translations will enable us to have an option in Little Reader to use the program in a different language (not the curriculum, but the buttons, and features will be in different languages.)

We're going to be making different language content packs as well, but this is a separate issue and subject to our production schedule (putting together massive amounts of high-quality pronunciation files do take time.) We've got the ball rolling on a couple of languages already (French and Spanish) so hopefully we will be able to develop them into final packs which we can make available to all of you in the coming months.

I speak Chinese but just got a license of LR today. Guess I am not eligible either. Otherwise I would love to take this responsibility. I am looking forward to seeing LR in other languages soon.

I am a professional translator and a Russian speaker. I've been a licensed user of Brillkids for about 2.5 years. I would be happy to translate the software for you. I am an advanced computer user and have Windows Vista on my computer.

Hi Bepl, the reason why we're not looking for Vietnamese translators this time is because our Vietnam distributors are already working on it. Do rest assured that LR will be translated to Vietnamese too

When do you expect to release the Russian version of the Little Reader? I realize that you do not have the exact date, but if you could just give me an estimate that would be great. Do you expect it in 2013 or later?
