Hi to all the Aussies,
My son's childcare centre has a visit once a week from Hey Dee Ho music. As I am at work, I haven't seen any of the sessions, but I believe they sing songs, incorporate instruments, puppets and actions and have different themes.
I found out that they have recently released a DVD which teaches AUSLAN (Australian sign language) vocabulary through singing favourite nursery rhymes. The disc also has sections which just demonstrates different signs.
I just recieved our copy today. We watched most of the DVD and my 14 month old son really enjoyed it. At times he even attempted to copy the presenters (sometimes he just clapped and danced). The production quality is not as good as something like signing time, but does serve its purpose well. The songs are well known and fun. There are even little sketches which demonstrate some common conversations relevent to young children (eg. "I am hungry").
The following is what is on the DVD:

http://www.heydeehomusic.com.au/eng/showpage.php3?id=1840I couldn't fund the DVD on their website so I just ordered it by calling their office. It was $32.50 (I think) and postage was $5. I guess it works out to be a bit expensive, but there is quite a lot of content on the DVD. The office was very friendly and the DVD was recieved within 2 days.
I am just happy that there is something like this available incorporating Auslan rather than American sign language.
