There are a lot of auctions abroad. I can advise Volvo and Toyota. These cars are the most reliable. I also suggest reading http://www.patchcar.com/auto-salvage/how-to-buy-accident-damaged-cars   which helps to understand how to buy used cars, accident damaged or salvage cars as well. Simply and easy way to do it.

I would recommend you to buy something that will be cheap when the time comes to have it insured. You can have a look here https://www.cheapautoinsurance.com/article/what-one-day-24-hour-car-insurance and compare the rates of some time-proven providers. But remember that the car with big engine power will be the most expensive.
