I find that its so hard for me to balance my attention on my son homeschooling/early education, and my relationship with my hubby. I'm hoping me being at home starting in May running a home daycare instead of my job as a dental assistant will prove me more time at home to get what I need done, instead of spending 2 hours a day communting I can spend that time getting some basics done around the home while homeschooling all the children.
I'm just wondering how you balance your time with your husband/bf and educating your child

I think it will be best to have a schedule of your daily activities "work" and have dates with your hubby to spice thing up.

Hi Waterdreamer,

I can't give too much advice as I battle with the same thing...

I have found recently that if I ask his opinion on something to do with my sons school work and try to get him involved he understands a little better.

I have seen though - looking back - that I have put a lot of work in to my sons school work that wasn't so important and didn't spend enough time on basics.  So a lot of things got lamanated and printed beautifully etc, and yet he learnt it in a week and I was left exhausted and dreading having to start all over again.  So now I print and teach - no longer do I laminate unless it's for a game that I know will be played alot.  Printing is another issue in our home...  I have seen that a lot of things I have printed were for the future - trying to get ahead, but two years down the line the printed paper is still not being used, it will, there is no doubt - just latter.  So some sites I book mark and it goes into "the future" file.  Or I download but leave the printing for when I need it.  You do have to be really good with the filing though, else it could be lost.

And then I try to have a deadline like 5 o'clock pm is the time to stop all school activities. And then just prepare for tomorrows work.  Then the evening is free to be with your hubby and you aren't thinking about your sons next day.

You sound like you are going to be busy though...  keep it simple (that's what I tell myself every day).  Make sure your hubby isn't jealous of your time, include him and share everything.  You'll be surprised, my hubby has such great ideas and suggestions to make.  It's because men are more practical.

Waterdreamer,

I must confess that is hard our mom´s life, but in my case, my babies sleep early and wake up early, so my days lasts more and I can dedicate to my job, family and husband.

Thats really nice idea of u waterdreamer. But running a preschool may also require lots of preparation in the beginning. By the time you settle your hubby may be used with ur tight schedule .... Discuss with your hubby and decide... But i like the idea of starting a preschool!! in the long run you may love the job and will have ample time too...

hi Waterdreamer,

are you going to start preschool by you alone, i mean you can have some others like friends to help you around. and you can also employ some so that you can lead them. by then you can find time for the relation ships

I know how you feel, let me tell you a little bit of my routine:
I wake up between 6 and 7 am, I try to walk, but this is not always possible, my kids wake up between 7 and 8 am.
I prepare our breakfast, and when I find myself, I lost all morning. Between teaching, cleaning house, making food and preparing new material to teach the children, are 4 pm. We sit down to dinner and is bath time, milk time sleep time. uff....
I need to be with the kids until they fell asleep (1 1/2hours). I fell asleep LOL , I wake at 3 am for feed my 10 months baby and and guess what? My husband is not on the bed. I get up and he is and he is lying on the floor of the TV room, with the tv on, drooling  big grin , after 30 minutes of trying, he finally wakes up and go to the bedroom. He loses sleep and wants to talk, don't let me sleep and when he fell asleep again, the baby wake up again...  blink  wacko
wacko he loses sleep and wants to talk closedeyes  dry  confused

WOW L and J, that sounds so similar to my situation. Hubby comes home and wants to "relax" then come 7:30-8 wants to go for a walk or car ride. While he relaxes I feed my son, do dishes and am about to put him to bed. Not pack him up and go off and do something. Then I fall asleep during whatever movie or whatever time we plan together because by the time we make our dinner and clean up its so late.
No I'm not planning on employing anyone, I'm just taking 3 babies, so my activity time with them will be while my son's tutor is working with him, and our one on one time will be during the babies nap times and before hubby gets home from work. I'm not sure how this will affect our day to day life, but its got to be better then us wasting 2 hours a day in commute when one of us could be at home getting stuff started.
I'm just unsure, we need to figure our how to compromise and blend our ideas of perfect schedules.

Yeah, my plan is to take one day before I start my dayhome and plan out my "babies" schedule, my son's schedule, and a weekly chore plan/guideline. THen I play it by ear, hopefully if I'm productive during the day it will free up some even time to spend with my hubby. Best of luck to you too. I'll keep you posted

Waterdreamer...this is the first that I've seen this thread.  It's 3 months after you started it.  How are things going for you?

I'm "fortunate" (but not really) that my husband has a full time job then comes home to yard work (we have a ridiculously large yard).  By the time he comes in we have supper, put our son to bed and then he crashes in front of the tv and I in front of the computer...there's no expectations for conversation or anything else.

Oooh now that I see it written down I see this is bad...really bad...and I'm even more curious to hear how you and your bf worked things out.

waterdreamer,
I too hope everything is working good. At first maybe it was really difficult and it still is but as you get use to daycare activities and have the activities programed it will be less stressfull. As you said it certainly is better than spending hours in the car going and coming from work.
Good luck with your husband. A lot of patience is needed fromo both parts.

I just came across this thread while browsing the forum and am very interested to know how this is working out for your waterdreamer, now that you're more settled with the homeschooling? Hope all is well!

I know that my husband is tired when he comes home from work but I have started including him in the learning activities with my son.  It is a great bonding experience all three of us can share together.  As for us having our alone bonding time... lets just say I have been blessed with a very patient husband who understands I am head over heels in love with our son and we have left our son with my parents a few times but I would always miss our baby so much.  His commute to work is over an hour and he does help out with alot of housework so he is always very tired and asleep by 10PM most nights.
