Wow everythings looking great. Sorry I didn't get those examples up yet, yikes the weekend has been nuts. Here is a few examples of poi I've gathered. I'll post pics when we get an actual board.
Squid
- a squid is an invertebrate
- squids come in a wide range if sizes. The smallest being around 1 foot and the giant squid can reach lengths up to 60 feet.
- squids have large heads that contain large brains
- squids have 8 arms that have suckers on their undersides.
- stretching out farther than the squids arms are two long feeding tentacles.
- squids breath under water using gills
- squids move by squirting water fr their mantle(which is the part beneath their head) through their siphon. This propels them through the water quickly
- squids are carnivores
- when in danger squids squirt a cloud of dark ink in order to confuse the attacker and allow it to escape
- squids reproduce by releasing eggs into the water. Some squids eggs are free floating, others are attached to seaweed or the ocean floor.

Shrimp
- shrimps are small creatures that live on the ocean floor
- shrimps are invertebrates
- there are more then 2000 species of shrimp in the world
- shrimps range in size from a few millimeters to 8 inches long
- they have five parts of walking legs, these have joints allowing them to walk along the ocean floor. They also have five pairs of swimmerets(or swimming legs) and three pairs of maxillae. The maxillae are what they use to feed themselves.
- shrimps are omnivores
- female shrimps lay more them 1000 eggs which attach to her leg
- when shrimp hatch they are microscopic organisms that float through the water. As they grow they sink to the bottom of the ocean.
- shrimp molt as they grow, they shed their old Shell and grow a new one
- humans use shrimp to eat

Bottlenose Dolphin
- the bottlenose dolphin is actually a small toothed whale
- dolphins are friendly, intelligent and easily trained
- bottlenosed dolphins have neck vertebraes that are not fused together like most whale species. This gives them flexablity
- bottlenose dolphins can grow to be up to 12 feet long
- bottlenose dolphin in the wild lives in pods of up to 12 other bottlenose dolphins
- bottlenose dolphins move by moving their flukes up and down. This is different then most fish which move their tails side to side to move.
- bottlenose dolphins are predators that eat fish near the surface of the ocean
- bottlenose dolphins find their food by using echolocation. Echolocation is a method of using soundwaves to locate objects. They send out high-pitched clicks and wait to see how long it takes for the sound to bounce back at them. This tells them how far away their food is.
-bottlenose dolphins are mammals
- bottlenose dolphins diet consist of forage fish

Blowfish
-blowfish are clumsy swimmer making them easy to catch
- a blowfish cam blow up it's elastic like stomach so is it resembles a spiny ballon to make it difficult for it's predators to swallow it.
- if a predator is able to swallow a blowfish it is likely to die as most blowfish have a poison called tetrodotoxin in there bodies. The amount of toxin in one blowfish is enough to kill 30 people and there is no know antidote.
- blowfish can be found in warm ocean waters and sometimes in fresh water
- blowfish range from an inch to two feet in size
- blowfish eat mostly algae, mussels, clams, and other shellfish
- blowfish have four teeth that grow together to form a hard beak. This helps them break the shells of their food
-even though blowfish are poisonious, the meat of some species is considered a delicacy in both Japan, Korea and China when prepared by chefs who know what is safe to eat
- blowfish are able to move their eyes independently
-many species of blowfish can change the color or intensity of their patterns in response to environmental changes.

Hi,

Its really going great !

>> I also wouldn't mind helping as a moderator as this is a major passion of mine.

As a working mother, sometimes I may not able to give justice here.
I was looking for someone who can be primary moderator.
Thanks a lot Linzy ! We will be very happy if you can take this up.
You already have a good experience of creating EK files.

So now we have Waterdreamer and Linzy as our primary moderator.

I would like to work on the existing file to make it upto EK files.
I'll suggest those who are creating their bits can also refer those.

heyblue41,
I am using ur EK files. Those are really nice. We will be very happy if you can give ur
comments/suggestions to the volunteers,

Hi waterdreamer and linzy,

I have made several BOIs with 10 POIs each on Great Composers, e.g. Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Mozart, Schumann, etc. I would be glad to share them as soon as the new board is up!  smile

Hi Waterdreamer & Linzy,

I have a question. While going thr' the already EK uploaded files I saw that they
have at the 4-5 pictures and 5/6 facts about the picture.

Is this due to limitation of LR for creating EK
or limitation on file size(for upload/download)
or The creator wants to keep it short and simple.

Can you check this please, may be with creator.

Thanks,

Hi Kreena,

Where can you find the already EK uploaded files?

I want to start to prepare additional files but I don't know which are the rules (Size, Type of file, Size of Page, Format, Image Type to use, Font and so on). Could you please let me know if those rules are already set?

Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Gilma

I don't have any cards preprinted so I am doing mine by researching online. It's taking a bit longer than I expected but I will be done by Sunday, it's not difficult just a little time consuming.

Update 8/14- It's still a work in progress, but this is what I have done so far. I need to finish the last 2 continents tomorrow, clean up a few missing facts below, and find suitable pictures. One thing I am finding is I needed to source all my similar facts (particularly like population) from the same hopefully reputable source, because there are many outdated facts floating around online that have not been updated so I did the best I could. These things are always changing of course over time.

CONTINENT
1.   Number of countries
2.   Earth’s total land surface coverage
3.   Population & %
4.   Highest peak
5.   Lowest Peak
6.   Hemisphere location
7.   Top economies
8.   Dominant religions
9.   Climate/Temperatures
10.   Random Fact

7.   South Africa is the continent’s wealthiest state.
8.   The dominant religions in Africa are Christianity and Islam.
9.   Africa is home to the world’s hottest recorded temperature--136 degrees Fahrenheit in El Azizia, Libya on September 13, 1922.
10.   Africa is the most multilingual continent with over 1,000 languages being spoken there. OR
11.   Africa is regarded as the oldest inhabited region on Earth.

ASIA
1.   There are 47 countries in Asia; it is the largest and most populated continent.

I have POI on Gustav Mahler, Anton Bruckner, van Gogh and also POI on some of his paintings, the blue jay, Franz Liszt, C.D. Friedrich and also POI on 10 of his paintings, Botticelli and 10 of his paintings, Bach, Saint Saens,  van Eyck, and Australian animals-platypus, dingo, bilby, frill-necked lizard, and numbat.   I wrote them all out so we wouldn't have people working on doubles. I am working on more artist POI. If anyone has any already, I would appreciate it. I'll post them when we have a place and standard format for them.

Hi Kezia,

Thanks for the update !

Gilma,

The EK uploaded files are in download section.

LilyAndOwensMom,

>> clean up a few missing facts below, and find suitable pictures.
Just want to confirm you will be using just 1 picture per continent or 10/11 pictures for each continent.

Yes, I will be using 1 picture per continent (that is what you want, right?) although, really two each might not be a bad idea. I originally thought we needed a separate picture for each fact.
