Just a quick suggestion:
When viewing unread posts since last visit, there is a "mark all messages as read" button when viewing the various topics (which is helpful
). Would it also be possible to create an option in the forums that would enable a user to select the topics individually to mark those few as read? That way, you could quickly "declutter" the unread pile with messages about new categories or topics that are not of interest to you and save those posts that you want to spend more time viewing. Just a thought - and certainly not a huge priority - just mere curiosity!
