First off I'd like to thank Michael for reporting the error! The Add a Video function in our Video Gallery really isn't working right now, and we'll get it back up as soon as we can.
Thanks to everyone who have pitched in so far to help explain how adding videos are done!
Anyway, just so we're all on the same page:
1. Adding videos to the Forum's Video GalleryWhen you add a video to the forum's Video Gallery, that's when you'll see a video with a discussion topic(s) right below the video(s). Here's an example:
http://forum.brillkids.com/mgallery/?sa=item;id=43 -- notice that the page looks like the download pages in our LR / LM / Free Download Libraries
To add a video to the Video Gallery, all you need to do is visit the
Video Gallery page and click on the "Add a Video" button. A form will load and this is where you fill in the following information:
- Video URL (this is simply the YouTube link of the video you're trying to add)
- Subject & Descrition of your video
- Video Category (you are required to select 1 category)
- Tags (optional)
When you're done, click on the Save button and once it's up you'll be taken to your video's Video Gallery page. You can then start a discussion for it by clicking on the "Start a New Discussion" button located just below your video. You may refer to this article for detailed instructions:
http://support.brillkids.com/index.php/article/how-to-start-a-discussion-for-a-video** Again, please note that
the Add a Video function is not working at the moment. I will post here once we've fixed it so you may try adding your videos there later on. We apologize for the inconvenience. **
(We'll add a formal "How to add Videos" Support article when we're done fixing the Video Gallery problem)
2. Adding videos directly to topic posts or repliesThe other way of adding/posting videos here at the forum is by pasting your videos directly in the topic or topic reply that you are writing. To do this you just need to copy the YouTube video's URL (the complete address you see in your browser's address bar) in the post composition box, along with the message you've typed in.
Just in case, this is how a YouTube URL will look like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRdQCsPvxco&feature=channel_video_title
and the most basic form will be like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRdQCsPvxco
Alternatively, you can get the YouTube video link by clicking on the "Share" button just below the video in YouTube, and you will see the URL in the "Link to this video" box. Make sure you check the box for "Long link" to get the URL that looks like the one above (otherwise the short link version won't work correctly when you paste it here).
When pasting your video's URL to your actual post, do check that there are no spaces in it or the video will not show up correctly when you post your message. In any case you can always see a Preview of your message to check if it works, or if you've already posted your message you can simply edit or modify it.
Qzee's method is actually the longer way to do it, but it will still work.
