white slides in between topics

We recently started watching Tweedlewink and I've noticed how they have blank screens in between topics.  For instance, they may show the word dog and then a picture of a dog and then a blank screen before they show the next word/picture.

I'm wondering if that is to "clear your mind" or if it is another bit of information for you to register since you mind would have to decide that it only sees white.

Either way, I haven't seen any PowerPoint presentations done that way.  I think I'm going to start doing that in mine.  Has there already been a discussion about this?

It'smore time consuming with a white screen in between. And if you were flashing flashcards manually you wouldnt bother having a blank card between each word...

I do that in LR now.  I combined all the categories that includes in my lesson for the day in one playlist.  In between categories, I inserted a blank page and then a page that says what category would be next.  But not in every word+picture.  That is time consuming.  We have to make it fast so that the kid will not be bored.

I started doing that when I began my math program, no particular reason it just made sense to me.

My son doesn't seem to mind it. 

I can't see how it is that time consuming.  If there are 10 different topics, and therefore 10 white screens that you flash for 1/2 second, you are talking 5 extra seconds per presentation.  If my presentation can't keep his attention for 5 extra seconds then it isn't even worth watching in the first place.

I do agree that it doesn't make sense to do with manual flashcards.  I'm just curious why they do it.  They have to have a reason and it might be a good one. I might send an email and see what they have to say.

This makes my son's eyes look away from the TV screen. He doesn't like this white slides in between.
And I will catch his eyes on the screen again right after this white slides disappear.
Maybe there is a reason why they put it this way. But if there is no good reason for this, maybe
on the next volume of TW DVD it is better if they omit this.

Here is the response from TweedleWink:

Well the answer is not very complicated nor based on any new brain
research :-)
it's just that we needed to put a "separator" between topics for that
moment of "rest" for the brain.  Depending on the flashcards, sometimes
that separator is a black screen and sometimes a white screen, just
depending on which looked and felt the best.

If you are going to do the same in your PowerPoint presentations, we have
since learned that off-white rather than white is more restful to the
eyes, if that's possible.

We are working on TweedleWink DVD 7 right now, and hope to release it
soon.  We also have the goal of completing the rest of the DVDs in the
series by year end.  This will be through DVD 12 (Lesson 48.)



I still think it makes sense to separate the topics and give the brain some rest.

When I make my own ppts, I allways put blank slides between the sentences because than I can easier read them. Also the child can understand that the sentence ends, and something another will start.

I also edit the downloaded ppts by adding empty pages, for example, between the math equations.
But I don't upload ppts with empty slides because nobody does

In LR I flash the word once and more than 1 picture(if it's available) and don't put pronunciation there again, so when the next word screen comes it's the new word. If you do word-media-word, you need a break between words. Or do just word flash at times.

Good idea to rest the eyes, if the kid looks away, it actually rests his eyes as well, as long as he keeps watching after
