Creative teaching techniques.

I just posted this over in the 'teaching boys...different' thread. It inspired me to find out some of the games you play with your little ones, boys and girls.

We have foam letters we use in the bath, they stick to the side of the tub. These are some of our best sessions, because he is semi-contained!

We also play 'fetch'. So I will hold up the word 'car' and he goes to get his toy car. This doesn't last long sometimes though as he just starts playing with the thing!  LOL

 We also write in big letters on the whiteboard, and draw pictures. He likes the size I think...

I love hearing about where we are headed as it is hard to imagine.  I just started using Brillbaby a few weeks ago with my 8 month old DD.  She seems to love it when at the computer but I can only imagine how much she is taking in and other ways to have fun and enhance the experience as she gets older.  I love hearing about other ways to have fun with it.  Thanks!

A friend of ours wrote out the names of all the furniture and big household items and stuck the words onto them! I thought that was quite a good idea.

A 'game' I like playing (especially earlier when Felicity was just starting to learn to talk) was to hug her real tight, then she would be trying to escape, and I would say:

Me: "What? Felicity? What do you want?"
F: "Let me go!"
Me: "You have to ask nicely..."
F: "Can you please let me go, please!"
Me: "Who?"
F: "Can you please let me go please, Daddy!"

Then I'd let her go, and I would count to 3 to give her time to escape and run away before I would try to catch her and hug her again. Oftentime, she'd just hang around to be caught...

I use books for my son to teach him to read.The book i select for him is like having one or two words in each page so he can see only one or two words and he understand in a proper way.I use pen and paper and i write words and i show him and ask him to write the same word.Sometimes he scribbles something and say " i have written mommy" .Sometimes he will draw something.We use slate sometimes.You can use many flash cards and just put all together in one corner and you speak one word say "uncle" and ask your child to go and pick that word and vice a versa ie than your turn.Ask your son to say some word and you go and pick that word . You can pin up the flash cards on wall.
