Lost this thread somewhere ... anyway just gathering my thoughts for a while .......
Firstly, how lucky to have been thought by him, so your wife graduated in US? Yes, do have a chat with him one day and share it with us .....
MI ... is superb .... it tells us that all of us are gifted in our own special way ...... those who are good with language can be lawyers, jounalist etc...., those good with music or atheletics etc have their own special talents .....
So while everybody is teaching their kids to read, and do maths and music, .... let us not forget that our own child, each child, have their own special talent, it may not be language, it may not be maths and logic, it may not be music, but there are many other special talents or intelligence that they may have that we have not discovered or has no atypical means or method to define it, not especially when they are still so young. They maybe great charity worker, or carer like mother theresa ... or high in EQ, great salesman or motivator, .... so we just have to keep our eyes, ears and hearts open to them ..... they may not show it now but will at some time in their growth ....
And as parents, we have to expose them to many different fields, guide them, and motivate them to do better for themselves and be a better someone .....
