Making Videos (DomanMom style) - Merged

Hi linzy!

I'll try to attach a small screen version, so you can see what I did.  (I'm not up on the youtube thing yet, and I only made it for Matt - you know, the creative commons thing  )

I showed it to my baby and he lost interest at the States.  I might have to put another picture of him in the middle.  (It worked for the numbers )

I just wanted to try it out, so I didn't give a lot of thought into content.  I'll try to plan a little more the next time.  I'd like to get a little encyclopedic knowledge in it.  But, I thought starting with the names of the animals or paintings/drawings were a good beginning.

I believe Doman Mom used power point to create hers. After I saw hers I made one but attaching all the audio files to each slide was a bit tedious for me. And then you just have it auto advance.  However I am currently making one with photostory 3 as THen suggested an have found it to be really easy and then you could even burn it to a DVD. However I really look forward to being able to do it with little reader as that would be the easiest of all.

Hi everyone,

Yes, I used a simple PowerPoint presentation to create that video. After creating the PowerPoint presentation I simply set up my video camera in front of the computer screen and recorded while I clicked through the presentation and narrated. Not the most high-tech solution but it worked for the time.

Right now I'm working on creating more high-quality bit time videos using a PowerPoint to Video Converter. The free service I am trying out is http://www.authorstream.com.

I love your idea on how to do this. I would like some of your slides you used to create this presentation. Are they on this site? If not could you upload them? I have created math symbols and uploaded them. 

I would like to make a similar one for my grandson with things to encourage him. Oh yes, I real love your good job slide and encouragement slides, could you upload these. I can edit what you have for Colin. Thank you. I would also like the music presentation, If it is already on this site please point me in the right direction, thank you in advance. Colin was born premature and might be brain damaged so I am trying to teach him as much as possible. I like your technique for your slides so anything you could upload to help me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again. I plan to add some of his favorite music to get him to pay attention to it.

Thank you for the insights to your creativeness.  And as Patreiche has requested, and I would humbly second, would you please upload your presentations to the Powerpoint Slideshow Library?  Unfortunately for our children, there are some of us (such as myself) who are less familiar with creating such powerpoint presentations, and our children would greatly benefit from your efforts, while we are struggling to learn how to create something comparable.

Hi everyone, I use program SNAGIT that let you capture anything played on your computer screen (for example categories of Little Reader) and then burn it and play on DVD player for my daughter. We have a camcorder but it is so easier to use the program instead, I just select that I want to record, I select the area of the screen to record (fullscreen), push start, play Little Reader categories, push stop and then Save it. The sound needs to be captured through microphone but it is still very easy. You should try it. You can download free SNAGIT trial version here.  http://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.asp  I hope it will work with the trial version (I have the full one). Before I burn it I use video converter to make it DIVX to play it on DVD. You can edit video if you want in any of video editing programs - there are plenty of them that you can download and use.
