Our girl got her first real Children's Bible for her 2nd Birthday, that was a hit over all other presents, and she is still asking to read her Birthday Bible every evening ( 6 months later). We also complimented it with some Bible Themed activities - Melissa and Dough Noahs Ark Shape sorter, Bible themed alphabet cards, Great Adventures dual language DVD, etc.

Another thing that she loved and was perfect present for her age is huge world map floor mat puzzle http://www.amazon.com/Plasmart-World-Map-60-2dpc-2e-Puzzle/dp/B000HZWWHM

Little guitar - that was a great idea, since our daddy is a musician and she pretend plays with him a lot, and getting some real cords down in the process, we were not teaching her cords yet in any structured manner but she is trying on her own

Microfone - it is a real mike, but we got one specially for her, that she can play with ( and it does work when plugged in, so it was inspiring her to sing and perform)

Doctor play set and Play dishes/foods for pretend play

Zoo membership  smile

Books, books, books -- she loves reading so new books were something we got together for her Birthday

Just some ideas that worked for us  smile

(We did not do it on the same day all the presents, as some of them came as gifts from our relatives far away, an it was funner in our situation to let her enjoy one of the gifts and then have another one later  smile )

I am putting together a craft box for my son's second birthday. Crayons, dot paint, more pom poms etc.

I am getting him the I can cut, I can paste and I can fold First Kumon books. With some safety scissors.

He will also get some more montessori stuff, like montessori bells, a set of knobbed cylinders, and a nuts and bolts set. Well will make what we can.

We will get him some more duplo (double sized legos) they are smaller and stay together better than the mega blocks. My son has a few and he loves them.

He also loves his wooden fruit and veggies, especially the ones that he can cut. My son's are plan toys and haba. But M&D make a version.

He has a few of the Mini Masters books an I will get him the rest of them.

My son has a balance bike, but my husband wants to get him a trike.

A help me dress doll or monkey that has snaps, zippers, shoes to tie, buttons etc.

My son has a birthday within 10 days of Christmas so I have to split these toys between the 2. So it seems like more than it is.

I was thinking about the globe puzzle, wasn't sure how she would handle it yet. SO it has been pushed to year 3 or 4.

She's got guitar, zoo membership already. Spoiled...

Thank you so much for taking the time and share tho!

Really great ideas! I was at the dollar store yesterday and can't help but bought some activity stuffs and decorations for her soon to be play room.

Do you mind to share where you can get the "I can cut, I can paste and I can fold First Kumon books"? She showed some interest in scissors lately so I am wondering if I should get that?!

Lego was on my list too!  LOL  Grandparent's house has some for her to play with. She is not totally into it and makes huge mess! I think I will wait on that.  laugh

She has a trike too...

Thanks a lot for sharing! Kama to you! I am putting together this list to that other people know what to get for her birthday as well as Christmas (3 months apart). Those are some great ideas! Def. going to check out some Montessori stuff!

I am sorry...

The Kumon books are called Let's cut, fold paste. I bought some of the books years ago at target and I liked how they progressed. They are small books and very portable. I see that they have expanded to include a lot more books now.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=kumon+let%27s&x=0&y=0

I got the Kumon books mixed up with the series below for toddlers. I have never used the I can series but it might be something else to consider.

My son is turning 1 next month and these are a few of the things that would be age appropriate for a 2 year old as well.
We just set up his Disney Pixar's Cars The Movie - Cars Race Around Playland Ball Pit and he loves it.  It has also given me another opportunity to teach him about colors of the balls and we play counting, addition and subtraction games with the balls.
I plan on getting him a power wheel Batman jeep I saw that they are for 12-36 months.
I have been collecting tha MathStart books levels 1-3 and hope to finish by his birthday.

My daughter is also turning 2 in about a week! I made a list of stuff on Amazon it is a public wishlist so take a look I have a lot of educational things on the list including toys. I had signing time DVDs (like signing time volumes we don't have) and more books (like eric carle who she loves)  on the list but I had taken them off because of some of the judgmental friends and family. I put them on a separate private list for those who are more supportive of my en devours in early education. However I think my list is pretty good. I would love to get her a play kitchen and a trike but that has to wait till Christmas her father and I got her a keyboard so she can learn to play the piano. She really wanted it. I can just hear what those judgmental people will say when she opens it but oh well. You can look up the list...just search for Isabella Carbonara.

Oh My mother...her grandma got her games like candy land...and memory. Which I think are really great also. She also got her this huge canister of Play Doh at Target it has a lot of different molds and cutters like abc and numbers and shapes and other fun things and it was only twenty dollars, which I think was a pretty good buy for all that you get with it. Dolls and Little People are a love for my daughter. There are so many great things! LOL

I got some more play doh from the dollar store the other day and she has been stacking them rather than playing with the doh. I'd love to get some more tools for her. Doll house, doll bed, doll accessories are on the list! She has two dolls but not really into them at the moment. I just want to get her EVERYTHING!

That is the way I am too...Just want to get her EVERYTHING! My daughter when she was younger use to stack the play doh containers and knock them down like blocks.I introduced it "play doh" to her at like 19 months I think maybe 18 so at first she would stack them and then she got around to playing with the dough! I think it is great!  big grin

My daughter has had the little people doll house since about 15 or 16 months old and she just started to love it. She liked it but it mostly sat on a shelf and she never thoroughly enjoyed it until now. Now she takes it opens it up and plays with it and the people. The mommy and daddy and baby...They go to work, they go on the potty, take a shower, cook, eat. She has this whole little world she makes up as she goes which is wonderful to watch. So I chalk it up to this is when her imagination and role playing stage. Even with her dolls now at this age she puts them to bed, feeds them, takes them for walks around the house...I think its just they have to get in the stage where their imagination or role playing comes alive. It is wonderful to watch...really and truly.

a BALANCE BIKE, for sure! it's a bicycle without any training wheels or pedals, you just sit on it and kick off the ground with your feet
