Hi Garry,

I bought the Doman math cards from the institute website: www.IAHP.org

Doman has a course scheduled in India (Feb 2010)- you may want to get in touch with them if you are interested- I found out about this from their newsletter.

I have heard a lot about the infant siddha program and after reading the posts in the forum, it seems like it may be worth doing.  I am in US but plan to do the program with my baby when we come to India- I believe it is a 9 week program....we may not be able to do the entire program, but something is better than nothing, right? There are many centers in Bangalore.

Hope that helps.

Hi Garry
I agree with Shaman ISP course is just great. We did it one month back.It is based on Doman method combined with their own tested formulas on how to upbring ur child.I can passon their number or u can check in their website.
Happy parenting.
Megha.

Thanks Megha. BTW, do you have any suggestions for me- I can do the course only for 4 weeks instead of 9 weeks- will they give me the remaining course material? How should I approach this to make the best out of it?
I have already started teaching my son math, reading and EK.
Do they have flash cards for different languages?

Hi Shaman
It is good to hear that ur interested in doing ISP course. But as per I know it is not possible to finish the course in 4 weeks.coz they give parents Home play(home work) n instruct them to impliment techniques what they tought in the class n it takes time. This is what they said when we asked abt crash course. That is true to an extent. rolleyes
They will provide u with one technique in the first class n one CD in last class.
I will passon number of  shailesh guruji if ur interested.

Thanks for the info Megha. I may do the course in Pune. I hope they can accommodate us in the course. I am planning to teach my son Marathi and flash cards would be of help.
Please let me know if you have any info about other places in Bangalore or Pune where I can buy flash cards.
Thanks again.

Ya ofcourse they accomodate u.Sorry i donot know from where u can get flash cards.WE are not using physical flash cards.I find it diffecult to maitain them.My son is very active he used to grab it while showing.WE are using LR n instaled language pack n teaching Kannada,Hindi, english which we talk at home n planning for Marathi n telugu.LR is more convenient.
Isp people have their school in Mumbai possibly there u can get flash cards.
They have their centre in Pune.Flash cards in Bangalore that u can get from their headoffice in Jayanagar.
Hope this help u.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Divya from Chennai, India currently residing in Melbourne. Its amazing that Indian board is more active than any other(Australian) board.

I started teaching my son 4-5 months ago but not regularly(as I'm working F.T) He was doing great and even now he's able to remember those words whenever he sees them in Tv, around him.

I started showing him flash cards( with pictures), ppt(with sounds). and he enjoyed and addicted to them.

I have crossed 50-100 words for him. Simultaneously I used to show him picture books, colors, shapes etc.,

Now..I got struck...

1. WHen I started Math dots(or any picture instead of dots) he refuses to see them and wanted to see the old (which he saw them early) ppt and books and doesn't want go for new ones(like introducing solar system, counting, more about vehicles etc.,)
2. I was not strictly following gloman method.
3. Also, now I don't know what more things I can show him(which alos interests him. Please find attached the words he is familiar with.

Please help me what to teach him next...(My son is not interested in seeing only words without oictures)

4. Suddenly, I realised about his schooling..Coz how will my son be at school..as heis familiar with more words(if I keep on teach him...he'll learn many things). But when you go for school..again he's going to learn the same thing I taught him at house..
5. So...what will happen...?
Will he lose interest in the future(as he's already known..and keep on teaching again with the known stuff)....I'm scared of his future...

So anyone can help me with
1. Anyone has got kids for whom you used this Doman system and how those kids cope up in their school?
2. IF yes..what's your opinion on this..
3. If there's no any problems,...then who will our kids will behave in their school( in general only some 25% mothers use Doman system and teach our children and these early educated kids mingle with other non- early educated kids....how would be...)

Thank you in advance

Hi

Glad to see so many active indians here:))
I am from bangalore, now in florida.  I have a 17 mnth daughter and i recently joined this forum, still exploring the resources.. yet to start any reading for my DD
I have one doubt...
We wanted our DD to learn our mother tongue kannada. we talk to my DD in kannada only..we thought she would anyways learn english once she gets into school.. so as of now she knows just kannada
Now my question is if i start the reading program in english, will it confuse her? Or should i first start talking to her in english then start the reading...

Any suggestions is very helpful, thanks

Putti_amma - Welcome! You can start to teach reading English to your daughter. It will not confuse her. There are many parents in this site teaching very small babies even 3 or 4 languages at a time. So you can definitely start teaching to read English. You can simultaneously talk with her in English, so that she understands the meaning of the words she sees in context and action. Your mother tongue with come to her automatically, so you need not worry about that.

Garry - Welcome! If your daughter is 3+, then you can continue teaching phonetics. Doman method is based on flashing words for younger babies (i.e. babies who cannot understand the logic of phonetics) to see...Montessori is a good way of learning...You can continue that.

If you are talking about Aspire Superkids, they have several courses. But their "My Smart Baby" course claims to follow the Doman method, where they sell flashcards. I am not sure about their other courses for 3+ kids. But regarding "My Smart Baby," I think it will not suit your need. Even for parents with smaller babies, I would suggest gathering information about Doman's method in this site or from Doman's books directly than enrolling with MSB or Little Gems. This is because some children (not all) will just refuse to see physical flashcards.

Questers.
