Expectant Mom from the Philippines
«

Hello Everyone!
I'm Vanessa, a first-time mom-to-be and currently 30 weeks pregnant. It's a blessing to have found this site before my baby is born. I'm really interested in infant education as it can give definite advantage to our children.
Before finding this site, I have already purchased a couple of "infant reading videos" for future use such as the Teach Your Baby To Read Program. But I must admit, BrillKids takes education to a whole new level! It allows endless customization and personalization to the learning experience. I have just downloaded the Beta program and browsed through it. Will post comments soon.
Thank you BrillKids!

Hi and welcome to the forums. It is good to have you here! You are so fortunate to have found us before your child is born. There is so much useful information here that will help you after you have the baby. I'm glad you have already purchased other materials too, but yes, Little Reader is quite wonderful! Please let us know if you have any questions.
I can't wait to here your comments and more about your baby after he/she is born!

Yay! Great to know that more and more kababayans are now discovering about the Brillbaby site!
I've been a member for barely a month now, I think. And eversince then, I got hooked! It's good that you are in a company of parents/ soon to be parents who share the same passion, on teaching Early education for their children.
Btw, Nadia and Lila_and_mom, what cities are you from? I'm from Quezon City. Oh and congratulations to you, Nadia!
I'm a first time Mom too and I can tell you the phrase "Masarap pero Mahirap" is not true... because it's really "Mahirap pero Sobrang Sarap!".

hi proudMom2Eliam! I'm from Quezon City too - tandang sora to be exact. Where in QC are you located?
Though I'm still expecting, I can already feel the "sobrang sarap" feeling that you mentioned. I just imagine the smiles, the baby smell, and those perfect little fingers and I'm in bliss already!
It's even more exciting to be a parent now because of the breakthrough teaching methods today! I feel very lucky to be expecting a baby at these times. It feels good knowing that there are forums and support groups we can turn to regarding giving the best advantage we could offer to our children. =)

Aww, I know the feeling... the excitement and all!
I remember when I was nearing my due date, I would count the days down and tell my baby, "It's only _ days till we see you!". And then the "big day" came, and we heard his earsplitting cry which for me was the most beautiful sound ever. Then he was handed down to me, the most gorgeous creature, our little one... The feeling was magical, you just can't describe it.
Anyways, do you know the gender already? What will be the name?
Nga pala, we're also from Tandang Sora too before. In Capitol hills, to be exact. We just moved here in Cubao last Dec 2007, but we stayed in T. Sora for 21 years
San ka dun?

hEY mommies,
Im from iloilo city and i'm a first time mom too. I couldn't agree more -- its "mahirap pero sobrang sarap" to be a mommy.
My husband and I started early with Lila. He printed early stimulation flashcards and we pasted them on a wall in our bedroom and had Lila watch it everytime. I also made red, black and white ladybugs and flowers and put it on the wall where her table was and she would look at the lady bugs every time she had a diaper change or a bath. But i wish i had known about this site before she was born -then teaching her would have been easier and more consistent.
im glad that there are pinay moms here...

I'm glad you've had a wonderful experience w/ the birth of your baby Eliam! Pretty soon I'll know the feeling of hearing my baby's first cry too
We just found out the other day that we're having a baby girl! I had 3D ultrasound here in SM The Block, it's been almost 30 mins of probing before she finally let us see her gender! On previous ultrasounds, it's either wrong position or her foot blocking the view. The 3D session is very much worth seeing my unborn's face for the first time. She frequently sucks her thumb, blinks, yawns..it's just so amazing!
Before, I lived in Villamor Air Base in Pasay. I just moved this year at Tandang Sora so I'm still not so familiar with the area. I've also stayed in my aunt's place in Cubao for some 8 years at 13th Avenue. Where in Cubao are you staying?

Hello! You're still fortunate cause you and your husband have started early with the stimulation flashcards
How old is baby Lila now? I'm sure she'll benefit just the same as others.
How long have you been using brillbaby/flashcards with her? We'd love to hear little Lila's milestones with the program

3D ba yun o 4D? Kasi sakin nun 4D e, yung video na. Pero you said you saw your baby's movements kaya baka 4D yung ginawa nila sayo? Galing na talaga ng technology ngayon no?

hello--
Lila is 14 months old. i started teaching her sign language when she learned how to sit on her own and use her hands well which was around 5months because i really didnt know anything about early education.
my husband and i read articles on the internet and just tried anything and everything. i've been listening to classical music (as per my hubby's instructions) even before lila was born. Then continued on with playing different types of instrumentals and classical music when she was born. my husband would also read to her every night. when lila learned to sit and use her hands, we started teaching her to do basic sign language. she did her first sign when she was around 9-10months old. the sign was "go down"...
yesterday she started signing "flower", "eat" and "ball".. yeey! it took a long time for her to do this but atleast now i know she gets it and she understands the sign.
before i knew about brillkids, i also used the set of flashcards that i have here at home in teaching lila when she was 8months old. it was a picture card of alphabets (A- with apple drawing, B- with ball drawing etc).
Im so thankful for this site.. i've learned ALOT from the moms here and the moderators, admins and editors...
Little Reader is "hulog ng langit" (heaven sent) for me..
Thank you everyone for the tireless assistance and the very helpful information you share everyday!!! Salamat po!!!

Very near pla location mo sa amin before! =) We lived just 3 houses away from the church in 13th Ave.
Yup galing ng technology ngayon! I availed of the photo-only session which is just P1,000. I just had my husband video-tape the large LCD screen they're using to show the baby. Almost the same results if you avail of the "Video" package! I recommend this to mommies who want to save

hello to all of you, vanessa, larz etc, etc.
i'm a first mom too, and iba talaga feeling pag first baby. as in complete lahat. you wanted everything to be perfect and in order. aside from that, first "apo"din ang baby (Liana). 16 mos now.ko coz i'm the eldest among the eldest .
i'm happy that a lot of filipino moms spend time teaching their babies. i'm a fulltime mom kaya i don't have any reason not to do it. i think that will be my career now. and i plan to succeed in this job.
by the way, same name. tayo tayo din ang nagpopost sa tagalog forum.
i just envy all of you coz i'm not in the philippines. iba kasi ang bonding ng family dyan. my baby isn't experiencing
being with the lolo's & lolas, tito's and tita's.

Hello Haydee! Yes bonding with family is tighter here in the Philippines!
I too, would like to be a full-time mom but with the economic crisis here (being third world), I don't think I can =( Even the basics of child-care would be difficult to provide if I won't work. How I wish the government here would improve so they can provide better-paying jobs so that moms wouldn't be forced to leave the county!
Anyway, you're lucky because there's a lot of educational resources available overseas. I can't find a single Glenn Doman or Robert Titzer DVD here!
