Hi Everyone,

I a new to Brillkids. My son Evan is 13.5 months old. I have been teaching him baby sign language and his is picking it up really well, so I thought I would look in to teaching him more difficult things -  like reading.

Does any one have any advice to give me as to where to start and how to go about things.

Hi Bobbie-Jo, welcome and good for you for enriching your child's life with this early education!!
I have been doing different kinds and different methods of early childhood education with my 2 daughters for quite some time. My daughters go through fazes of liking different ways of learning. So we use DVDs, flash cards, computer games, board games, reading books, games I design, music, power points I design, and all kinds of materials. So where ever your son seems to have interest is where to start.
As for reading, we started with both sight reading and phonetic reading at the same time. So that meant playing with flash cards and learning the letter sounds. I never pushed and made sure that they were always having fun.

I think the best way to start at 13m would be to use Little Reader five days a week and go from there. But if you dont want to spend the money then get some books out about early reading.
