To create a new Preset: 1. First select whether you want to create a Number Preset or a Math Preset by clicking on the big yellow Learn Numbers or Learn Math buttons at the top of the Preset Panel.
2. Click on the +NEW button below your list of Presets, and a new Preset will appear below the item you have currently selected. If you have a folder selected, the new Preset will be placed inside that folder. Alternatively, you may right-click anywhere in your Preset list and select “New Preset” from the context menu that appears.
3. Once you have created a new Preset, you will see that the new Preset’s name is highlighted – from here you may type in the desired name for your new Preset. Once you have typed in the name of your new Preset, press ENTER on your keyboard to confirm.
To create a folder: 1. Next to the +NEW button is a button with a folder icon. Click on the New Folder button and a folder will appear below the item you have currently selected. Just like Presets, if you have a folder selected, your new folder will be created within the selected folder. Alternatively, you may right-click anywhere in your Preset list and select “Add folder” from the context menu that appears.
Tip: Little Math supports up to four layers of depth for folders, giving you lots of flexibility in how you want to organize and arrange your Preset lessons!
2. Once you have created a new folder, you will note that the new folder’s name is highlighted – from here you may type in the desired name for your new folder. Once you have typed in the name of your new folder, press ENTER on your keyboard to confirm.
How to navigate the Preset Panel: •
To select a Preset – left-click on a Preset in the list to select it.
•
To open a folder and view its contents – simply double-click on the folder. Alternatively, you will see a white arrow beside each folder (that contains at least one Preset) that you can click to expand the folder and view its contents.
Tip: Also, you may select a folder by clicking once to see how many Presets are contained within; this information will be displayed on the Preset Preview Panel on the right of Little Math.
•
The Scrollbar – when your list of Presets extends beyond the length of the Preset window, a scrollbar will appear on the right which you may use to navigate up or down. Alternatively you may scroll by using your mouse wheel (make sure the Preset list is the active window by clicking on a Preset before scrolling).
How to organize your Presets To re-order your Presets: There are two ways that you may re-order your Presets:
1. At the lower-right of your Preset Panel you will see two small buttons, one with an up arrow and one with a down arrow. These buttons will move the selected item up or down one place in your Preset list, respectively.
2. You may also select an item in your Preset list and then, holding down your left-click, drag it up or down on your Preset list. As you are dragging, you will notice either a blue highlight, or a thin blue line appearing where your mouse cursor hovers. A blue highlight indicates that you will be placing the item within a folder. A thin blue line indicates that you will be placing the item between the two items where the blue line currently sits.
How to Rename an item in your Preset list There are two ways that you may rename items in your Preset list:
1. Select the Preset or folder you would like to rename and press ENTER on your keyboard. You will see that the item’s name becomes highlighted, and from here you may type in the desired name. Once you have finished typing in the desired name, press ENTER on your keyboard to confirm.
2. Right-click on the item you would like to rename and select the Rename option from the context menu that appears. You will see that the item’s name becomes highlighted, and from here you may type in the desired name and press ENTER on your keyboard to confirm.
How to Delete an item in your Preset listThere are two ways that you may delete items in your Preset list:
1. Select the Preset or folder you would like to delete, and press the X button at the bottom of the Preset Panel. A dialogue will pop up to make sure you wish to delete the selected item, press YES to confirm or NO to cancel.
WARNING: If you delete a Folder, all of the Presets contained within the folder will be deleted as well! 2. Right-click on the item you would like to delete and select the Delete option from the context menu that appears. A dialogue will pop up to make sure you wish to delete the selected item, simply select YES to confirm or NO to cancel.
The Context MenuThere are several other options you may have noticed in the context menu that appears by right-clicking in the Preset Panel. These options can save you a lot of time, meaning you can perform many more functions from the Playback screen without having the navigate to the Import-Export screen, or into other applications!
Here’s a quick run-down of the context menu’s other organization features:
PlayThis option allows to you play the selected Preset.
Save Preset AsThis option is very useful if you only wish to make minor changes to an existing Preset, but would still like to keep the original. By using
Save Preset As, you can create a copy of the selected Preset and save it under a different name, while keeping all of the settings intact!
Import Preset HereThis option saves you from having to navigate away from Little Math to look for your extra downloaded content. By using
Import Preset Here, you can select a file from your computer in the window that appears and Little Math will place the Preset below the currently selected item.
Export PresetThis option allows you to make an exported copy of the selected item, to use as a backup or to share with other parents by uploading to our
Little Math Library!
Tip: By exporting a whole folder, you can save yourself lots from having to export each Preset one by one – Little Math will even name each file for you, prefixing the file name with the Folder name!
This concludes our guide on how to create and manage Presets. We hope this will help you make use of Little Math’s features to create engaging learning sessions with your little one.
Until next time, happy teaching!
