Hi KL,
I am referring to before and after a lesson.
My son and I spend more time in front of the LM Home page than the actual lessons because of the stalling games he likes to play (at the moment he pretends that the Home, Playlist, Numbers Library, etc buttons at the top of the screen are stamps or stickers of his favourite storybook characters) and the singing or other fun activities I have become accustomed to engaging him in as soon as we sit down for a LM lesson.
Kidudo is certainly not the only LM user having difficulties encouraging a son to pay attention to LM, even though, like my son, Kidudo’s son is obviously paying attention to something that we would think is not really child friendly, the Home pages of your products.
Two days ago we sat down to do LM & LR. As usual my son squirmed during LM but when I put on LR he calmed right down. As I was scrolling down to our lesson he started shouting "Dog! Dog! Dog!" I looked all over my screen (the LR screen, the screen saver, etc.) and I couldn't see any dog so I said "There's no dog, honey." and got the lesson going. Yesterday he did the same thing. When the program opened and I was scrolling down to our lesson he again began shouting "Dog, Dog, Dog!" This time I figured out what was going on...on the top of the LR tool bar there is a small icon of a printer. Coming out of the printer is a "page" with the letters d-o-g on it. Turns out there was a dog after all!!!!
My 19 month old also find's LM a chore. He's wiggled and squirmed since the beginning (4 months ago). Now he just looks at anything but the computer screen waiting for it to be over. It almost seems like I'm punishing him. I, too, love math and it pains me to see him so disinterested. He does this with the word family set on LR, too.
I hope this explanation helps you to understand my initial post.
Thank you,
Mum.
