Little Math Success

Hi All, I just wanted to share an update on my son's math progress. I've never really tested them before, I tried with my daughter once but she didn't cooperate. So today,  I just grabbed my bingo blotter and some paper and asked my son to tell me which one is X from a choice of two or three cards. He did 7 is a row correctly, all the way up to numbers in the 20's and 30's chosen correctly from a set of three cards.  He's currently 20 months old.

Aside from this success, he's seems to have a major interest in numbers and loves counting. I can easily see him being a "math person" (unlike me!~) and I attribute this directly to early exposure to LM.

I'm so grateful that he was able to gain exposure mathematical concepts early on. Thanks Little Math!

How wonderful! I am still waiting for my 22m son to let me know that he is learning maths - he just will not be tested and grabs both options if I ask him to choose

I also have had to change LM to show mostly the Little Pim icons or he won't watch it 

Counting is a favourite in our house, too! He just started counting to three in Chinese - which he won't even do in English! Maybe I should put LM into Chinese...

That's fantastic! I started showing LM to my son when he was already 2 years and 1 month old. It was quite a challange to get him to watch the lessons, but I keep trying anyway..

He did not show that he recognizes quantity or anything. He is 2 years and 9 months old now and we are almost done with LM. He counts 1-40, recognize number 1-11, and can count objects up to 15. If he sees more than 15, he loses interest. 

Although I don't see a clear result like LR, I am confident that LM is a door to a more advanced Math program. I do believe the program helps him develop numberal sense.

Congratulation TMT! I wonder why many more parents WON'T join ius in this fantastic journey of teaching our LO's early and think of it as a "punishment". I'm sure the sense of achievement you feel when your bay show's you that he's learned something (however little) makes your day! It sure makes mine!!!

I started LM when my DS was 19mo, (he's going to be 2yo in 3 days)  and still have not tested him. although 2 weeks ago he picked up a red dot card which has 14 dots on it and actually said "FOURTEEN". I was actually quite shocked!... I don't want to test him yet, as I'm only at day 44 in LM. We took a short break...

Thank you for sharing! This is so nice to see such an encouraging post, especially considering that after a few months of trying Doman math kit on my twins, I'm yet to notice any results. We started kind of late, at 2 years and 1 month since this is when I found out about the whole Gentle Revolution. So, all this time I keep wondering if we started too late and I'm just wasting my and their time on quantity recognition and addition. This is kind of discouraging considering that one of my family members thought that it was outright funny that I show the 2-year olds addition equations

We also have a great success with LM, I haven't been testing her for a long time but lately I thought I will give it a try and I was happy to see that she can recognize the quantity and numbers as well. I have put some pool balls in boxes and aked her where was what amount. She did it right several times in a row. I chose numbers over 20. Or I showed her number cards and asked her about numbers. Yesteday I was trying to make a number game for her so I was writing numbers on a paper and stopped at number 15 as she wanted me to pick her up that she could see what I am up to. As I lifted her up she looked at it and instantly said 16! I was so amazed. And she said it in english so that doubled my happiness.
There is also many everyday situation when she proves she knows math  .  One day my mum was showing her how many buttons she had on her jumper so she counted one , two and Saska said six! My mum was very surprised and I ma glad she could experienced it.
