Little Math Equations Flash??

I would like to know if it's possible to have LM flash the equation while audibly replying with the answer.  Or, if not that, then to flash the whole equation (not parts of the equation) minus the answer, and then flash the answer.  When it flashes the whole equation, it could state the whole equation (like you would a word sentence).  For example, "1 + 1 =" would be the only thing on the screen and the voice would state "one plus one equals" and then the next flashed slide would be "2" with the voice saying "two". 

Personally, it drives me crazy to have it split up.  It's like reading a sentence flashed one word at a time - it's maddening and painfully slow/inefficient.  I have little doubt in my mind that children's frustrations stem from this same concept.  Having the slides flashed like I described above would be no different than flashing a picture of an elephant eating grass and then flashing the sentence "The elephant eats grass" or having the audio over both.  Instead, the way it is now is like flashing each word separately - argh!

Am I the only one who feels this way?  Any help towards fixing this would be oh so appreciated! 

Also, I'd like to be able to have numbers on the screen in vertical equations too.  Is that possible?

And, while I'm at it, I'd also like to have numbers placed randomly on the screen (like the dots, I suppose) with a "+" or a "-" sign before it and then for the answer to be flashed.  Imagine, if you will, that I have number cards and I throw them on the floor randomly and the game is to reply with the answer.  If I throw a +4 and a - 3 down, then the child should be able to call out "1"!  Well, I'd like this sort of function in LM, if possible.

Well I don't know about LM but you could do all this in LR.
Since LR works on images with a voice over you could make/take/create an image of the sum you want add the voice over saying 1 plus 1 equals then the next slide would be the answer with the voice saying whatever you need it to say.
This means you could also do vertical equations. Just make the equations you want ( in word or publisher or ....) save as an image and load it into LR. You might even be able to load it as a word document, I havnt tried.
The only way I can think of to make the dots appear in groups on the same page is to actually make the dots physically. For example using smarties or cherries make two groups and put a plus sign in between. This would be a lot of work and is the primary reason i havnt done it for times tables!
You could also make a random slides file with the "plus 1" "minus 4" but it wouldn't be able to give you the answer and I couldn't garentee that the randomizer wouldn't end you with a negative number....

In a LM v3 maybe? I personally would love a substantial upgrade in LM. Flashing whole equations, adding a blank slide between numbers or equations, being  able to display icons in different ways other than just random or linear (example, the domino way, on 10 frames, on a 100 chart, the abacus way, grouping by 5s a la Right Start with tally sticks, fingers, etc.), numbers going beyond 100... Wouldn't that be awesome?

A_BC, YES! That's exactly what I was hoping for!  *sigh* 

Manda, using LR and creating my own slides is exactly what I was thinking I would have to do ... I was just HOPING that maybe it was already done, or even better, that it could be done with LM.   ... it's looking like I'm have to wait for a new release, though ;-)  I guess I better get cracking!

Of course I'll update you guys with what I get through ... but yes, yes, yes ... i would love for it to incorporate tally sticks, abacus images, domino groupings, ASL sign, etc.  *dreaming until it's done*

Hi everyone! Sorry, but at the moment Little Math can only show equations part by part. There is no setting that could let you show the entire equation just yet. However you can use other things to show the entire equation or however you prefer to do so through Little Reader or the other great ideas you've shared so far.

We'll look into your ideas and feedback as we always do while we're working on the new Little Math version. No date yet on when it will be available and what the new features are, but do watch out for updates!

Lastly, please do keep those ideas coming!
