Little Math - Feature Requests

Hi there,

First, I really, really like Little Math. It has saved me a lot of time and energy doing math with my son.

I have a few suggestions to make it even better (IMO!)  I would love to see these added in the next release.

1) Option to exclude equations with the answer "0"
2) Option to say "don't show duplicate equations" and have LM not show the same equation again until all others have been exhausted.

I can't tell you how much the #2 drives me crazy!!  Almost every session I was getting 1-1 = 0 equation.  It was a double irritant because I hadn't taught my son 0 yet and I was frustrated by seeing the same equation so often.  It's likely there were others that were common, but not as evident since their answer wasn't 0.   Now that we're doing subtraction, it seems that the majority of the equations use the lower numbers so I had to change starting number within equations to 20 so I'd get some of the larger numbers. 

So, I decided to create my own equations. I created 9 and showed them on random 3x per day 3 in each session.  LM only ever showed 8 (in my many tests). It always showed 1 equation more than once, so all 9 equations were not shown that day.   Now, I realize I could create a different group for each set, but that's a lot of work. Creating 1 set per day and having LM not show duplicates would be the easiest way to do it.
Anyway, those would be my requests.  #2 is actually more important than #1!!

Those are great suggestions, and I totally agree! I would like to see them both implemented into future versions.

Option to exclude '0' has been mentioned before, and is on the short list to be included in the next version.

I noticed the randomization repeat issue too, and is also on the to-do list. It's just that it's a harder 'fix' that requires quite some time. But thanks for the kick - will try to get it implemented asap too!

Thanks KL.  Again, I can't tell you how much time and energy LM saves me. I really like the program a lot and am so grateful to you and  your team for creating such a terrific program. Without Little Math, I honestly don't think we'd be doing math at all (or it would be very inconsistent) because my son doesn't enjoy it enough to justify me spending all the time & effort required with the cards. 

Little Math was the tool I needed to keep both my son and myself interested in Math. We do it consistently and both have fun at it too.

Even if you never added these features, I'd still love and highly recommend the program.

KL, can we know when this feature will be implemented? It's going to be very useful especially the one that prevents repetition of random equations.  Will current users of LM be notified when a new version is released? If there's a new version, how do we upgrade from the old version? Is the license file the same?

The "exclude 0" function will be in the next release.

The random equation repeat function will have to wait till the next version, unfortunately.

Yes, LM users will be notified of new releases - there will be a flashing sign on LM itself when you open it if there's an update.

To upgrade, just download, install, and choose "upgrade".  You will not need to install the license file again on the same computer.
