Help, need suggestion: How to make my daugher interest in LM?

Hi, All..!

Please need your suggestion.

When I buy Little Math several months ago, my daughter pay attention when I run the program (maybe because it's new for her??).
But now she's no longer pay attention to it.

I have tried to use many icons and change the voice between man & woman. They work only for a few days.
She even can press Esc button when I run the program.

Sometimes she pay attention when the icon that she likes apprear: mickey and friends, butterflies, etc. But.. only to call their name!
I think maybe because of the voice of the woman & men is not as enthusiasm as in Little Reader.
Terrahmother suggest to KL to add child's voices. But cannot wait too long either.

Now I still continue using LM (75day semester 1), with or without her attention, hopping that something she will remember.
I always run LM before LR. Because she love LR, so I told her she only can learn LR after LM.

Please tell me how to make her interest in Little Math? What else should I do?

My daughter will be 20 months in few days.

I, too, am interested in some new strategies.  My son began to loose interest in LM about the same age that your daughter is now.  It's been almost 10 months now that we've stopped LM.

Yes, math is so much more difficult to teach than reading, cos it's much more difficult to continue to maintain the child's attention.

We can only try our best to improve the attention span by giving the child variety and personalization, especially choosing icons that interest her.  I wouldn't worry too much about the fact that she's focusing more on the character of the icon itself rather than the quantity.  If you believe in right brain theories and the power of the subconscious mind, then the information concerning quantity will certainly get absorbed too.

Do you mean we keep doing Little math even if she is only pay little attention?
that's what we are doing right now. I hope there's something she will remember.
That's why I give the LR as a "reward" after LM..   

KL, how can I reset the lessons? I mean.. I have changed something in the playback and now I want to change them back as the original.
I made modification on day 1 to day 6 lesson.

Kizudo, maybe you should continue the LM to your son. Like KL said subconscious mind will absorb

Yes, many people continue with the lessons even though the child might not be 100% focused on it.  I believe Glenn Doman's and Right Brain Kids' suggestion is to do it nevertheless as they believe your child will still absorb it.  Just make sure the experience is not a negative one for your child - do not force her to watch it.  If it needs to be forced, then please put it away and give it a long break (like few weeks, even months).

I don't think anyone can say for sure how much your child will actually absorb.  All we can do is to give our children the opportunity, and make sure it's as joyful as possible!

If you want to reset playback record, then right click on a lesson or folder and choose 'mark as unplayed'.

If you want to reset it back to the original playback settings, then you can try uninstalling LMt, but instead of uninstalling, choose the REPAIR option. See if that works. If not, might have to uninstall completely and reinstall.

Hi Fenny,

Currently we are doing nothing of significance regarding number sense.  Here and there as the opportunity arises we'll count things, but only to 10 or 12.  I'm seriously thinking of starting the Dr Jones program and also doing some abacus work with my son.

LM was a positive experience for my son for a few weeks but then it became a session of fits.  He squirmed, begged to leave, cried and got angry.  Sometimes I'd make him sit through it, all the while saying "We'll do Little Reader as soon as we're done" over and over again.  But, frankly, to say the least, no one was having fun so we dropped it.  Every once in a blue moon he'll sit through a lesson, but it certainly isn't consistent...I'm talking once in a two week period.  So, we haven't touched it really in months and months. 

Unfortunately, LR is becoming less interesting to him now, too.  I think it could be because I've introduced some catchy-er things like Hooked on Phonics songs, Starfall, miscellaneous YouTube videos and we now have some new DVDs.  So, to counter that, we watch our MemoFlix DVD (3 categories/day) (which is AWESOME) and I try to sneak in LR whenever I can.
