Very huge difference.
If you're doing dots on LR, then:
- dots are static pictures, limited by the number of pictures you make for each number. (With LM, dots are random every time, or can be set to grid mode, and can be any one of the many random icons you can choose, or just set to random). Just the sheer variety and customization of icons alone already makes a huge difference, because judging from feedback and personal experience, that's really what makes the difference between a child getting bored and staying interested.
- you have to create your numbers manually one by one, including the order, whereas LM does it automatically based on parameters you give it, or from the many presets already there (such as skip counting).
- you have to arrange all your equations yourself manually (whereas LM can do that automatically for you, either through all the presets already created, or randomly generated from the parameters you give it)
- Many other options dedicated for math, like easily switching from displaying dots, to displaying numerals, or both, or repeated dots, or words, and many other small things.
