Totally Lost with LM - assistance much appreciated

Hi,

I downloaded the trial version yesterday and realised that I do not have an inkling how to use LM!

1) Whats on the LM screen is "Courses", "Numbers" and "Math" unlike the demo video
- The Courses section finishes in seconds. Is that all we have to do?
- How do we incorporate Numbers and Maths into the daily session?

2) Is there a plan that I can see how people teach with LM?

3) When I download the icons, how do I import into LM? I cannot seem to locate the icons on my desk top / documents at all

4) how do I incorporate word + number + icons in the lesson?

5) Is there a dummy guide?

According to Glenn Doman that is how we start introducing quantities, just a few seconds at a time, a number of times a day. There are a few threads discussing GD method, just search the forums or you can also get an idea from Glen Doman's books. LM is built basically upon those principals, excerpt it makes it much easier for the parents.

You do not introduce written numbers till quite a bit later ( there are also forum discussions on that, just do the search, sorry I do not have much time to write now with the baby in my arms  )

Math, you start introducing equasions approximately after you reached the introduction of the number 20, some people waited a little longer, I personally started arounf the number 40, I believe, just so I wanted to have some time to get ready for that ( before the LM curriculum was available, and I had to do it myself) and also I had more numbers to work with.

With LM curriculum, most of the work is done for you. You just need to show it to your baby...

Thanks for that! So, for the moment, that few seconds of flashing and a few mins of curriculum is good enough ya? I will read up on the GD method tomorrow.

What about downloading of the icons? I saw some library where there are really some cute icons and after downloading it, I do not know where they are and how to import them.

Will wait for when u are a tad less busy for your advice.

Hi Moonbeam, yes what Skylark said (thanks, Skylark! ).

To supplement that, it's totally up to you whether you want to show the lessons again, for example, if you child wants more, then you could.

Re icons, just click to download and open/run the icon sets, and they will be automatically imported into your icon library.  You can preview it under Numbers Library, Icons tab.  If you want to use it in your lessons, go to Playback Settings (Display Settings) of the lesson concerned, and you'll find the new icon set in the drop down list.

We will have a new feature soon that will allow you to override the lesson's playback settings (including icon sets) so you can use a particular icon for all lessons without having to change them individually for each lesson.

It is not much about LM, but rather about Glenn Doman revolutionary method. It is pretty amaizing, as I have seen a few generations of kids doing it, and was pretty amaized with results. With mine, we just starting in a way, but what inspired me was observations of other children who did it and showed amaizing results. The goal is not to raise a genius, but rather to meet your child's potential and give him/her a chance. It is fun and children love that.

LM is just a tool. Like I said, it did make it MUCH EASIER for me as a busy parent. However to learn more about the method, you would want to read GD books, write them, ask questions, read forum discussions, ask other parents....

As far as icons, I have not used the different variations of the icons, since my girl has excellent attention span and concentration, and I did not feel the need to have different icons to keep her attention, -- I heard it worked really well for others... But I prefered just classical red dots. So I was creating my own presets, and following my own schedule in LM ( there are some of them in downloads...)

I think the  is to find what works best for your child, and have fun.
