UPDATE July 28th, 2011:

Emails have been sent out to all those who have been invited to the beta-testing program!

Alternatively, go to the newly-created Beta Testing board for Little Musician, or this thread for more details:

http://forum.brillkids.com/beta-testing-b282/little-musician-beta-testers-welcome!/

(ONLY INVITED MEMBERS CURRENTLY HAVE ACCESS TO THIS BOARD.)

For those of you who want to participate in the beta testing, please read my post below, and reply to this topic with the requested information.  Thanks!

----------
Hi all!

Good news - we're almost ready to begin beta testing for Little Musician!

(BTW, I'll be calling it LMs for short, to distinguish it from LM (Little Math) and LR (Little Reader).)

The not-so-good news is that this will be a CLOSED beta-test, meaning it won't be open to everyone.  But not to worry, cos OPEN beta-testing (open to all) will follow immediately after closed beta-testing.

For this closed beta-testing, we are inviting those of you who fit the following description:

- have a strong music background and experience
- play or have played a music instrument
- can read notes
- have an idea what you're looking for in a music program for children

If you are interested in joining this closed beta-testing program, then please reply to this topic and let me know a bit about your music background, etc.

Please try not to PM me instead unless there's a some real privacy concerns, as it won't be dealt with as efficiently.

Once we're ready to start beta-testing, you will be emailed details on how to download the program. (Make sure the email you use in your BrillKids account is one you check often.)

Thanks!

Musical background - 6 years of classical piano education
Play - piano, guitar
Can read notes  smile In fact that is the only way I can play piano  confused , I do not play by ear, as opposed to my husband, who prefers to play by ear and plays excellent guitar,  both classical and electric
I have musical ear, but don't sing ( have not received formal voice lessons), my husband has perfect musical ear and perfect pitch
Yes, we both have an opinion on what we are looking for in musical program for our children, in fact we have discussed that in depth on a few occasions and almost decided to create our own teaching video series at one point  yes
That is it in a nutshell  smile

Hi there..

My husband is a singer and it is his career. He sings at Hard Rock Cafe Singapore and provides bands for weddings, coroporate functions, etc. Thus, he will be the main person to sit through LMs with my son.

He can play the drums and percussion.

Musical background - started playing organ at 5 years old..  8 years of organ education until Grade 7th
Played organ and have one.
Can read notes
have an idea what you're looking for in a music program for children : music program that represents the society around him and is treated with lifestyle now. something that can be applied in teaching at school and at home. besides that, it should be more practical and shows the hidden talents of a child, rolleyes

Hi! Am so excited to know that the LM will be launching soon.

I've got musical background in piano (practical and theory). Am able to read notes, expressions, tempos etc. Am currently looking for some musical programme to teach my toddler while teaching her myself simple beats, names of musical instruments and parts of a music score (just started a month ago as I read that the music sensitivity window starts at 2 yrs). So far, she is able to name "bass clef" and "note" and hit fast / slow beats when told.

I hope to be included in the beta testing. Otherwise, hope you could consider also adding in the different types of sounds made by different instruments and the sample types of music genres.

Thanks.

So glad Little Musician is coming out!

I play the piano, grade 8 level, was thinking of doing a diploma before baby arrived! I have a GCSE and AS level in music, both grade A. When the kids have all started school, I'd like to teach Suzuki piano.

Clara is 6 months on the 21st. I give her a couple of minutes of piano time every day.

In a general music program for babies, I'd hope for an introduction to rhythm, pitch, orchestral instruments perhaps, maybe chords and intervals.

Please let me test Little Musician! Thanks!

I had 5 years of musical training in grade school and play the piano by note.

I have grandchildren at age 4 and 1 yro old to test at two different age levels.

I am anxious to teach them Solfege and am pushing the daycare to add this to their teachings. I have finally found a Suzuki teacher in my area to teach the children also. I certainly wish to teach this method as opposed to the method I received.

I will be purchasing them a keyboard this weekend for their birthdays.

I am hoping to work with the kids at the daycare once I get LMs.

Hi, I play the piano and the flute and I can read notes. I am a pre-school teacher and I used both instruments daily at work and aslo taught children how to play them - so I have an idea what to look for.
Thanks

Hi there! I am thrilled you guys are getting ready to offer Little Music! I first learned about Brill Kids as a result of an internet search I did for music learning programs for babies! Your future Little Music program information is what brought me to you guys!

I would love to be a part of the Little Musician Beta Testing. Here is my background.

--4 years piano lessons as a child
--5 years intensive music study in college where I trained to be an opera singer as a music performance major
--familiar with music theory, music composition, and yes, can read notes Wink
--also took further piano lessons in college
--currently enjoy setting my own poetry and other meaningful texts to my own music, and I still sing!

I am looking for a music program to begin exposing my baby boy to the building blocks of music in order to give him a head start in music appreciation, as well as to increase his potential for being able to understand and play music well as he grows.

Thanks for considering us, and hope to be included!

Warmly,
AM

So nice to see such a musical community here, love the fact that there are composers, singers and those playing different instruments and using them in their teaching ( always wanted to play flute, Lelask!).

It is great to know that we have such a variety of talents and experiences among the fellow parents here.

I am looking forward to exchanging ideas, learning experiences and know-hows in teaching our little ones music.

Undoubtedly, LMs will make the learning process fun and memorable ( also organized and sane  smile ) But what will make it even more unique of a product is a community of parents with passion to teach their little ones music, exchanging ideas and sharing tips, cant wait to start our music snow ball rolling!  smile

Well my son fits the criteria better then I do LOL. He can play violin and is learning to read music. I on the other hand have to ask him LOL.
I can't wait for the LMs to come to the public. Hopefully it will help my son (and maybe me too) read music faster.

I have five years piano as a child, Susuki method.  I played by ear my entire life until last year when I decided that I would like to know more about "music theory".  I have been taking classical piano for a year and 8 months.  I was in Choir all through my junor high and high school years, and I sang in a choir for two years that performed at christmas events and fourth of July events every year.  Music is very important to our family and we are very excited about LMs.  My husband plays base guitar, my oldest son plays the drums, and my second son plays guitar.  My third daughter is about to start piano this fall.  My 18 month and I would love to be a part of your program.
Thanks,
Alison Atkinson

My wife and I are professional musos, I'm a drummer and guitarist/vocalist and she dabbles in just about anything musical.

Both fluent readers in multiple clefs.

We are very sure about what we like and don't like in music education however we are also open to allowing him to have as many learning opportunities as possible,

Keen for an ear training and theory training program looking forward to seeing what you've come up with.

Neat!

I'm interested!

I had formal (traditional) instruction in clarinet, both group and private, for 7 years. I still play. I also was a "Suzuki parent" for about 9 months (my son was just not ready and started disliking violin).  Hoping to try it again with my daughter and still seeking out other options for my son.

My husband had formal traditional instruction in trumpet and baritone, totaling 7 years. We also own and dabble a bit with other instruments (piano, trombone, guitar, bass guitar, drums, violin).

I can read music. I was told by my private instructors that I have a "good ear", though many thought I relied on it too much. (I disagree)

Things I would love my children to be exposed to are: pitch (this ranks highest right now), enjoyment in making and listening to music, and reading music. My children are 4.5 and 1.5.

This is amazing news! It's great to see how many musico's we have in our community. The following is my music background:

-15 years of professional piano training, and have a diploma in music and theory (ABRSM)
-7 years of professional violin edu
-5 years of classical guitar training, as played the electric guitar in a band for 2 years after that

yes, I can read notes, play by ear, sight read, play in multiple clefs and was a piano teacher (mainly 4-5 year olds) for 2 years before starting university (for some extra pocket money).

my husband had 7 years of piano edu, but due to his extremely busy  work schedule he doesn't play much nowadays.

I have a 21 and 9 month old, and although my 21 month old is not able to read notes yet, he is able to sing and play notes on the piano according to solfa... do re mi fa so... I play my instruments daily to expose my 2 babies and fetus(yes. I'm pregnant!) to different tones and sounds.

Music is food to my souI  and I really want my babies to really learn, love and know their music, and not just be able to play it for the sake of playing an instrument.

We'd love to be a candidate for the LMs BETA testing, I have LM/LR.... we love you!

Dr Jasmine
