LR and LM encountered the problem and need to close

I would like to ask for a help.
We had this problem from the start, but I did not now I can report it here.
My som loves them both and now we have got into the stage when he starts to cry after the program stops to work, I have to restart it, and after 2 sessions it all repeats

Hi Monika,

I'm sorry for missing your post!

I just have some questions about the errors:
 - I'm assuming that LR and LM crash frequently, but can you tell me a few specific situations when this happens, aside from what you've described?
 - Have you been getting error messages? What do they say? (or do you always get "Little Reader has encountered a problem and need to close"?)

We'll look into your diagnostic reports and I'll write you again with a solution for you. In the meantime, can you try uninstalling LR and LM and then installing the latest versions? For your reference, the latest versions are v 1.6.342 (LR) and 1.6.370 (LM).

To uninstall Little Reader, please follow these steps:
 - From your Start Menu, open your Control Panel
 - Go to "Add and Remove Programs"
 - Select "BrillKids Little Reader" and click on the Remove button
 - Follow the prompts to finish uninstalling Little Reader

(You may follow the same procedure for "BrillKids Little Math")

** When asked if you want to remove additional data (playlists/presets, playback history, etc.), please DO NOT check/select any of the boxes in this screen. Otherwise all of your Little Reader or Little Math playlists/presets, lessons, and even the ones you've previously created or downloaded will be deleted permanently.

After uninstalling, kindly sign in to your BrillKids Account and go to this page:

I have followed all the steps, uninstalled and reinstalled both programs. Unfortunatelly problem remains the same.

Let me describe it in more detail: When I try to play for example day 70:
first attempt: stop on session 1, Multisensory 2 part, 6 th word,day 70 has been marked half green
second attempt: I started from previous stop place (replayed from session 1 Multisensory 2 part), all day has been succesfuly finished and marked green
third attempt: stop on session 1, Multisensory 1 part, 3rd word,
fourth attempt to play day 70 from the start: not able to replay day 70, play button does not react, even after closing and restarting program several times

so I played day 71: stop on session 1, Multisensory 1, word 7

Always with the same error message: "LR has encountered the problem and needs to close. We are sorry for incovenience".
So with each new attemt I had to restart the program.

LM: test: day 70,
first attempt: stop at Session 2, quantity review, slide 6
second attempt: stop at session 2, quantity review slide 6
third attempt: stop at  session 2, quantity review, slide 7
Always with the same error message: "LM has encountered the problem and needs to close. We are sorry for incovenience".
day 70 has never been marked as green or half green

I just wonder, could be the problem related to the computer type? We have small travel laptop with a very smal screen. (we chose to install it here to be able to take it with us everywhere).

Hi Monika,

Thanks for your detailed update

From both of your diagnostic reports (the first one you sent and the new ones), it seems that you have a media codec in your computer that causes your playback problem.

To remedy this, kindly do the following:
 - Download the file: http://d2.brillkids.com/upload/files/UninstallCodecMmswitch.zip
 - Open the files and double-click on the "UninstallCodecMmswitch.bat" file inside
 -  Once the process is complete, open Little Reader and Little Math and see if the error was fixed

I hope this helps! Again, if the problem persists you may send us a new diagnostic report (or a screenshot).
