My picture editor is not working

I haven't used my picture editor for a long time.The  last time when i usded it was working normally.But today I tryed to use it and I gat the message:
"BrillKids Picture Editor has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on migth be lost.
We have created an error repotr that you can send to help, us improve BrillKids Picture Editor.We will treat this report as confidential and  anonimous".Here is the diagnostic report.

Is this happening consistently or was it a one-off occurrence?  Did you have any other applications open at the time that it crashed?

Hi Shuki,
My picture editor does not work and this is  happening  every time I want to use it. I  also used  Mozila  at the time the crashed happened.I also noticed that since I made my last update  to Little Reader   I can not use my Picture Editor.I also  have other  crashes when I play some lessons or some of Categories.

Can you help me with my Picture Editor,please.I have Photo Shape but it is not comfortable to use it.

Our programmers are away until Wednesday, and will get them to look into this then.

In the meantime, can you try opening Picture Editor NOT from within Little Reader, but from its own icon:

- from Windows START menu
-> All Programs
-> BrillKids (folder)
-> Little Reader (folder)
-> Picture Editor

See if it works OK if you start it from there WITHOUT LR being used.

From your Diagnostic Report it seems that your LR has had a few crashes caused by a problematic file called "l3codecx.ax"

To fix this, please download and launch this file: http://d2.brillkids.com/upload/files/UninstallAudioCodec.zip

We're currently investigating further about your Picture Editor problem -- will get back to you soon about this

Hi Kezia,
Since I have uninstalled that audio  codec I didn't have LR crashes.This is the good news,but there is bad news also.Now when I play a longer file from Categories and when it is set on auto forward function I can not here the sound of the words from the middle to the end.I can here the sound of words nearly to the middle of the file,after the the sound is not working.When I play the file and the function auto forward is not switched on some files wor fine but some of them are repeating words more than one time.I hope you will help me soon about that problem.

If you have not yet upgraded to the latest version of Little Reader (v 1.6.340), kindly try doing so and see if it helps. To do this, just go to this page:

Go to STEP 1: SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD and click on the download button to get your installer file (you may check the version number of the file you are about to download by referring to the "Download the latest version of Little Reader ( ### )" text link right below the download button). After downloading, open the file and double-click on "Little_Reader_install.exe" to begin the installation.

If the problem persists, please send us a new diagnostic report:

• From your START Menu, go to 'All Programs'
• Open the 'BrillKids' folder
• Open the 'Little Reader' folder
• Find and run the 'Diagnostic' tool
   - A black window will display collecting your system information. Please be patient during this process.
• Once the Diagnostic tool has finished, it will open up a window containing a file named "Little Reader_[DATE].zip"
   - Attach this file to your reply

Regarding your Picture Editor problem, unfortunately we haven't gotten around to fixing it yet as the Picture Editor is not among our priorities right now. 
You may try uninstalling LR first before you install the latest version and see if you can get your PE to work properly again.

Thanks for your instructions.
I have updated my LR and now my Picture Editor is working.But I still have the problem with the sound.This is my diagnostic report.Also I have another question.I saw that in new version of LR I can choose the location where to install the program.I want to install it on D drive.How can I do this. And will it work properly when I install it on D as it have been installed on C untill now.

Hello Joni,

Thanks for your diagnostic report!

Yes you may install LR in your D drive -- but you need to make sure that this particular drive is permanent, not a removable or external USB flash / HDD. Otherwise you might encounter problems running LR when it's installed in a removable location.

About your sound problem, we noticed from your diagnostic report that you have a "Ran out of memory" error. This indicates that your computer is running low on resources while you were using LR, and this could affect your sound playback. Can you please check if you have any other programs / processes running in the background -- examples would be download programs, auto-updates for certain software, and maybe your anti-virus program. For now, kindly disable and close some of those that are unnecessary then try running LR again and see if it helps.

I have installed a new audio kodeck pack.Now when I play LR lessons I do not have  the problem with the sound. I have 3.5GB free space in my hard disk.Is it enough for the computer  to work normally.

Hello Joni,

Yes, it would seem that you don't have that much free disk space, and this can affect Little Reader's performance.

Aside from my previous suggestion (about disabling or closing unnecessary programs that are running in the background), you can also try adjusting the performance of Little Reader to suit your computer's specs -- this takes away most of the visual aspects of the software, but in exchange it will perform significantly faster!

Simply do the following:
 - Open Little Reader
 - Go to the Options menu
 - Find and choose the item "Optimize Performance for: Slow Computer"

Hi Kezia,
my computer has two Hard Drive the one is C main hard drive with 19.5GB space and has 3.5Gb free space.The other hard drive is D and it has 125GB space with and has 71GB free space.I think that that is enough for the  LR requirements.Can I move my LR library folder from drive C to Drive D?Will the program be working properly in that case? I will try your suggestion.
