Relocating from Canada to Hong Kong

Hi Hi,
Our family will be relocation to Hong Kong in February.  The PC that we downloaded LR and LM will be sold.
What steps do I need to take in order to uninstall LR from this PC, and keep my license to install in another new computer when I relocate to Hong Kong?  (I have installed LR in another laptop as well, which I will be bringing to HK)

Please advise.

Hi Lilian,

Before removing Little Reader and Little Math from your old PC, kindly make sure that you have a backup of any customized or downloaded LR Categories and Playlists, or LM Presets and Media Sets that you have so you can easily import them back into the LR and LM that you'll be installing in your new computer.

Simply follow these steps to completely uninstall Little Reader and Little Math from your computer:
 - From your Start Menu, open your Control Panel
 - Go to "Add and Remove Programs"
 - Select "BrillKids Little Reader" and click on the Remove button
 - Follow the prompts to finish uninstalling Little Reader

(You may follow the same procedure for "BrillKids Little Math")

** When asked if you want to remove additional data (playlists/presets, playback history, etc.), check/select ALL of the boxes in this screen.

After doing this, you will also need to clear up the LR and LM activation records for this PC -- you may refer to this Support article for instructions on how to do this: http://support.brillkids.com/index.php/article/manage-activation-records

When you're ready to install LR and LM in your new computer, just go through the entire installation process in the same way that you did it last time, and then import your backed-up files afterwards. Your software, content files, and license keys will always be in your Account Management page, and these are also regularly updated with the latest versions.

Just a tip: since you mentioned that you'll be selling your old PC, do make sure that you've reformat it first to ensure that all your personal data will be removed from your computer.

I have gone to Account Management and able to clean the activation record of LM, but there is none for LR.
Attached is a print screen.  Please help.

Hi Lilian,

I checked our records and would like to confirm that you do not have any activations for this LR key -- this is because the key you see in your Account page is actually a new key that came with your Deluxe Kit (currently you have not used this particular key). The only LR activation you have was with your old key (downloaded a long time ago), and since LR 2.0 [BETA] was launched we mentioned that those old keys will no longer work (which is why we assigned new keys to everyone who have the old ones).

In the meantime I've cleared up the activation for your old LR key, so you can start using your new key (for now, on your laptop). I've also removed the screenshot document you attached for security purposes.

Oh..does that mean after I bot the deluxe kit, I have only used one download (which is already in my laptop) and thus I still haven't activated the other one?
If I do not activate this new key,  is there an expiry date?

From our records it shows that you activated LR before you got the Deluxe Kit, and the key you used back then was acquired roughly 2 years ago -- the "new" key, which came with your Deluxe Kit, was meant to replace your old key.

About expiry dates, your key will not expire any time soon, as we have since "upgraded" everyone to lifetime usage of LR (and LM), so you may still use your key even if it's been a long time since you've acquired it! Should you have any problems when you do re-activate your Little Reader, do let us know and we'll get it fixed immediately.

Oh Kezia..I think I've screwed up something?
I was all well until yesterday when I received the email about LR version 2.0
I clicked on the link to Account Management and hit activate again.  Turned out it's the old version. So I downloaded the version 2.0 file right after so now the LR is good.
But I think I must have activated the lifetime LR key that you mentioned in the last email....that is supposed to be my 2nd install, right?
Does that mean I lost it? Can u reinstate it?

Hi Lilian,

No worries, we're clearing up your activations now so you can try again. Kindly note, though, that in LR 2.0, you will be asked to enter (or import) your key after you've imported one of your content files (ex: English Curriculum Semester 1), instead of using your key before importing content files.

One way to check if you were able to install and set up your LR 2.0 completely is to go to the Tools screen, and then go to "Software Information" -- you should see a list of which content files you have imported already, and beside each is the key you used to activate them. You will also notice that the title bar doesn't say "Trial Version" and that you can access/play the Semester 1 and 2 lessons you imported.

I don't know what I have done. But the course semester 1 and 2 are all there and it is LR 2.0 that I have. So I guess I am good to go?
