Little Reader Story - missing words

We just started Little Reader story - "These are the Parts of My Body" and there seems to be a problem with the display of words when a picture is shown.

When the picture for the story is shown, on some pages, the full line of text doesn't appear below it. Only part of the sentence is shown. See the attachment for what I mean. In this example, "with me" is missing from the sentence when the picture is shown although it is shown when only the words are on the screen. The problem only exists for the longer sentences in the story where it runs into more than a second line.

Can you please tell me which Little Reader software and content versions you're using now? In case you need help with finding these details, you may refer to the following articles:

In the meantime, I suggest that you try changing your computer's screen settings -- particularly your DPI settings -- back to the default (96 DPI).

You may also want to try adjusting your screen resolution and see which setting helps fix the display problem.

Hi Kezia,

My LR version is 2.0.715. Content is version 3. My DPI is on 96 and screen resolution is on the recommended setting. I have Windows Vista (if that helps).

I have re-attached the screen shot.

Everything seems in order (unless I am behind in the updates for LR?)

Please advise.

Hi Shen-Li, you actually have the latest versions available for both your LR software and your English content (UK, right?)

Kindly try changing the font settings for "These are the Parts of My Body"

1. Go to the Advanced Play/Edit screen and choose Categories
2. Find and select "These are the Parts of My Body" -- this should be inside a folder called "BK English (US/UK) Stories"
3. Toggle the Playback Settings tab, then set font size to "Automatic." Try playing this story again and see if the lines are still cut in the video slides.
4. If that doesn't work, try changing the font size to a smaller font size like 100 and try playing it again (you may go ahead and test different font sizes)

Can you also tell me your monitor's diagonal size and screen resolution?

Hi Kezia,

The font size was already on automatic so I changed it. Even at the smallest setting - 30 - it still cuts in some slides, although not as many as before.

My screen size is 15.5in and the resolution is 1366x768.

Hi Shen-Li, can you try changing the font type to "Times New Roman" and see what happens when you play this story again?

Adjusting the font type and size is only a temporary solution. Another workaround is to turn off the "Display words with pictures/videos" option for the sentence and story categories so you won't see the text anymore.

I'd like to inform you that this particular issue will be addressed in the next minor update, so once it's out you may want to try upgrading and see if your display problem is resolved.
