Which version of windows should i buy?

Hi Everyone,
I'm a new guy and very excited to be part of this fantastic community.

I didn't realize until after i bought the $500 package that it doesn't run on my macbook pro.
After a bit of research, that i later found on brillkids.com, i found links to apple that says it can be done. Also, a software program " parallels ", lets you run simultaneously.

1) i'm upgrading to os snow leopard ( parallels says its designed to work well with it ) $30

2) buy software program " parallels "- $60

3) buy version of windows. which one is best for now and future? it's confusing to me that on brillkids site it says
 "its designed for xp, but only compatible with vista." ???

what about the new windows 7 Home Premium for $175? or,
windows 7 professional for $ 277- it says "You'll be able to run many Windows XP productivity programs in XP mode".

Many?? that doesn't give me a lot of confidence

So i before i go to all this trouble, i want to ask the experts.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 bit and my BrillKids works a 100%!!  The x64 bit Windows are faster, but not ALL x32 bit programs are compatible with it, but x32 bit is going to be obsolete in the future.  Hope this helps a bit    .

It does help and i really appreciate it. Can you tell me if you use the bootcamp option or a program like parallel.com that lets u run both at the same time?

Also, how long does it take to open it up? I've been warned that parallels is a big program and takes 3 min to boot up. I'm not sure if it an exaggeration or not. so it might be better to go through the shut down & re-boot every time but that will take time too, hmmmmmm.

Also, if i buy windows home 7 premium ( 64 bit- good suggestion ), is it a whole program or an upgrade that needs a former version of windows?

This has gotten a whole lot more complicated than i thought but i'm sure looking forward to, "Just pressing play"

I use bootcamp, because it was cheaper then getting parallels, since it is already a part of Snow Leopard or even the OS before that. It works great! We only used our LR on Mac, with Windows XP via bootcamp. Hope it helps

I don't use either, to be quite honest, I haven't even heard of these two programs before reading your post - 

You can get both with Windows 7, one to upgrade if you already have a previous version of Windows which is cheaper OR (my preference) one that's a program all on its own!  Personally I don't like to buy programs that updates only, as I like to get rid of previous versions as I don't like to gather things.

Jip, the better programs seem to become, the more complicated it gets - I had to do a fresh install of my PC the other day JUST to install Office 2010 - so annoying!!!

Well, he does need to use either one or another in order for MAC to run Windows    You probably have PC thats why you don't use either.

Of course another option is to install Windows straight on MAC book PRO, you will erase Leopard, etc, it does take pretty steep tech knowledge, drivers which the tech support would not provide, cause it is not technically supposed to be done, and then if you encounter problems you will have to know what you are doing, as there will be no technical support. I did it, took me a long time to figure it out with my previous computer, and came to conclusion it is not worth the trouble.

Never tried parallels, but bootcamp worked great for me!
