I have to say though that McAfee pointed the fact that
www.findsounds.com has been reported as an untrusted website. NOt sure if I will use it then, what do you reckon?

This is probably because the findsounds website does not have a more effective way of filtering out unrelated or unsafe items in their search results. You may find that when you try searching for something, some of the search results are "fishy" or are not even what you were looking for. In this case I suggest that, in the same way that you evaluate your Google searches based on your own judgment, you can check the URL or filename of your findsounds search results before you actually preview or download any of them.
Otherwise, perhaps you can try Wikimedia Commons, which we've also included in our Useful Resources topic. Though we've specifically cited this database as a source of good quality images, it actually has other media like sound/audio files and video files too. Another sound effect source we've listed in that topic is SoundSnap.com -- maybe you can try this one instead.
If anything else, you can just go back to your favorite search engine, or you can try looking for other media websites (I'm sure there are lots more around the Web).
