How to Install Additional Language Packs

So you want to teach your little baby a new language, but your PC won't display the characters properly? 

Teaching your child a foreign language has never been so easy!  Little Reader supports foreign languages that use the standard Roman alphabet and other characters (provided you have installed your computer with additional language packs) so you can create and edit words and use other languages to teach your child.

If you have not installed the additional language packs yet, follow the directions below to unlock full language support for your Little Reader.

In your computer, press Start, and enter the Control Panel.

In Category View, click on the icon for Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options.



Click on Regional and Language Options.



This will bring out a little pop-up window as shown below. Go to the LANGUAGES tab.



In the SUPPLEMENTAL LANGUAGE SUPPORT area, tick on the boxes to install additional languages of your choice.  Click OK, and follow the prompts.



You may be prompted to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

And that's it!

This is nice, but I am looking on how to install the font or fonts so they can be recognized by this program.

As of now we don't have that function.    We can only recommend you to write your word text on a Word Editor using the font of our choice, and then use that to copy and paste it on the ADD WORD dialogue box (on the upper right hand corner when you open the ADD WORD function).

Hmmm... can I recommend you to try using Microsoft NotePad or Word? Copy and paste the word which you typed in.  Do let me know if it works for you.

Is it possible to use Right-to-left fonts on LR Lite?

Wow this is great!     

I have finally figured out how to change the font to Hindi (हिन्दी). 

I am able to make it work for Little Math and other applications.  But I am not sure if it will work on my old machine yet because when I followed the given instructions earlier on that computer, it did not work.

Now that I have figured this out...
 
Is there a way that I can use another Hindi font other than the one given in the language pack? 

I would be most grateful for anybody who can help here.

I'm afraid you can't use custom fonts yet. This will be possible in a future version though.

erm, how soon an we get this? cos Arabic and Dhivehi both uses right to left and local language is what Kule is fluent to and its hard using manual flashcards

thank you mas2in for your help with hindi language font. Unfortunately my system is old and does not have those tabs and I fiddled with the other tabs but was not able to switch to marathi. But i found a site: gamabhana Lite which helps in translation and was able to copy /paste those words in LR. karma points to mas2in . Hopefully adding a new language will be available in the new versions

Lappy, if you are around you might be able to help me. I tried my best to follow the instructions to go to regional and language settings as you said, but I dont seem to find an option for supplementary language at all. Do i have to install something from off the web BEFORE I make the changes (additional language settings)?
I am using Vista's btw....

I just had a look and the instructions given by Windows Vista Help don't work either.

However, I think it's under the "Keyboards and Languages" tab, where you should click on "Change keyboards...", and you'll see an "Add" button.

That should work.

Thanks... I will try that - thgh I dont think it works.  I even sent a note out to the Toshiba guys but havent received any response yet.  Wonder whats happening.
Will try it this evening (after at least 8 hrs) and check if I succeed.  LR is great but I still have to learn to use it to its maximum potential thgh LM is my target. Am still learning.

I am trying a work-around so I can make Hebrew cards.

I am trying to SKIP the Word Slide (since I cannot make it in Hebrew) and just display the Picture slide, but when I OVERRIDE and select picture only AND play picture audio, NO AUDIO comes out.

Am I doing something wrong?
