Audios and videos for LR files

I have a couple of technical questions, and will appreciate some help.

First I have a few music files (MP3) that I am planning to use as part of LR presentation. I was wondering I was wondering if there any way to edit those files in LR, so it is just a part of the full MP3 file, like not the whole musical piece but just a short part of it, not the whole song but just a short part of it. For example I can cut parts of the recording that I would record myself in LR recorder, is there any way to import the MP3 or other format file there and cut and edit it as well?

The same goes for video. If I do not want to use some other software, can I somehow cut a piece of a video file in LR so I can only use a small part of it, or do I need to use Adobe Premier or something like that?

Another question, that Nadia asked on foreign language forums, does anyone knows how to use the audio file from existing PPP ( export it) in order to re-use it in LR. The reason for it, there are some good PPP in Russian that I have, but my daughter prefers doing her LR, and I would like to put different pictures, variety, etc, but I would like to use additional voices ( not just mine), so was wondering if anyone has some technical know-how how to extract the audio file from PPP so I can use it as one of the versions for the audio behind LR presentations…

You should be able to cut any sound file in EVR. Just open the file in EVR and then you can edit it. There is no video editor, so you'll have to use another program to do cut videos.

Just a question, how do I open the file in EVR?

Click on "file" on the upper left hand corner. You will see "open". Select that, and you will be able to browse your pc for whatever file you want to edit.

It did not give me an "open" option, just import/export, and under that I was not able to get any audio file, it would only see the cat file.... Sorry, may be I just looking at the wrong place.... Thank you for leading me

You have to have EVR open first. Do you see a button in LR that says voice recorder?

Or if your audio file is already in the word file, just EDIT the word file, and you will see the option "Edit with Editor" for all the audio files (and picture files too, courtesy of Picture Editor).

OK, that worked, got to the editor...Went to open file, and it said it does not support file format... it is the most common one - mp3.... do I do smth wrong again?

That's weird i thought it edited mp3 and wav files?

Just had a suggestion, an idea. It would be really really great to have a similar option for videos in LR. For example to be able to open the video and just cut a small piece to use for the presentation. I do not think it would need many editing options, as if anyone really wanting to get into editing would just do it in vid editing software. But it would be so much more practical for us busy parents to open a short video clip right there in LRE, and to be able to cut a little piece we will be using, may be mute sound or leave sound, and ...voila.. great addition to LR presentation. Otherwise I am thinking twice before I open my bulky vid edition software, etc. And many people woild not even know how to use that.... Just an idea...

Yes, it WOULD be nice, wouldn't it?

Unfortunately, video editing involves a lot of very serious coding, work which we don't have capacity for right now.
