I had not been able to download any file, whether ppt or cat for more than 2 weeks I think due to problem with my slow connection. I finally managed to download a few .ppt and .cat files today. I could open the ppt files but when I tried to import “Polar Bear, Polar Bear” (http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=view;id=2905) and “Frog Life Cycle” (http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=view;id=4245) cat files, I can’t see them in the LR word library. I could play 2 other .cat files that I downloaded and imported into LR today though.

I don’t think I managed to download “Polar Bear” as the file size is 0 bytes and it just took like 2 second for me to get a message that the download is completed (usually it takes me something like 30 minutes if not longer to download a file). I have tried it 3 times but the same thing happened every time. As for “Frog Life Cycle”, the file size seems normal.

I thought I read that someone mentioned similar problem but I can't find the post on the topic. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Hello CP!

I just checked both files, and found that the Polar Bear Polar bear one isn't working. I will check with our programmer to see what the problem is and get back to you as soon as I can.

As for the Frog Life Cycle, the file is in perfect order and I was able to download and import it right away into my Little Reader. Perhaps it may have something to do with a sporadic internet connection, since stable connectivity is a requirement to make sure that there is lossless transfer for data from our server to your PC. May we recommend that you try to download and import the file again? Importing should give you both a category and a playlist for it, since Nikki has been kind enough to create her file with both.

Do let me know if you are able to download it properly.

can u teach me how to import files to the lil reader lite?i can only see the export button

i have downloaded some things from library but just dunno how to upload them in the little reader lite!

You cannot download files into Little Reader Lite - you need the Home basic version to do so. In the meantime try the powerpoint files until you can get the home basic version.

Thanks Lappy for your reply and help.

I downloaded Frog Life Cycle again. This time the file size is much smaller and I got it working fine.

I still could not complete the download for Polar Bear as I keep getting “operation time out” messages. I think it is due to my slow connection. I tried using Download Accelerator to download by right clicking the mouse but I got a “no download link is found” message. Alternatively, I can enter URL into Download Accelerator to start the download. Is "http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=view;id=2905” the correct URL to use? When I use that, it just brings me to the website page for the download and not the file.

And yes, a slow internet connection will greatly affect the ability to download files, especially ones that are as large as this (Polar Bear, Polar Bear is around 9MB++, twice as large as the average Little Reader file because of the great number of slides and media files.)

Thanks Lappy for the link. Unfortunately, I still could not download Polar Bear and I’m afraid I have to give up downloading big files (I can't even download files that are less than 2MB)

I'm very sorry to hear that CP.

However, what you can probably do is visit an internet cafe with a faster connection, download the files there, and save it in a flash drive.

You can then take these files and bring them home, importing them into your Little Reader.
