Feature request - "Create a Translation" Funcation

Here's what I'm thinking:

If I want to translate one of the category files, I can click on the "Create a new translation" button, which pops up a list of languages I can choose from. Then a copy of the original CAT file is created, named <originalFileName_languageCode>. (Language code can be FR for French etc). The word files names are also renamed to <originalName_languageCode>. The images and image sounds stay, but the words and word pronunciations are removed. A placeholder can be used for the words. Now all I have to do is to add the translated words and the respective pronunciations.

What do you think?

Would make translating these files simpler and would create more uniform files. Right now to create the new word files is a pain. If you take an English file an modify it you lose the original word so then you have to download it again. Another method is to download another copy and change the filenames when you are told their is a duplicate and skip all the pictures and sound files, this is a pain also. When translating alot of files the procedure is painful. Simply when you save a new filename for a word if it would ask you if you want to create a new word or overwrite existing word would be nice or not overwirte previous word.

Yes, translation is not easy to do right now. It's something we are aware of and have plans to change for future versions.

Right now, the best thing to do to translate a Category is what Patreiche said: import the file AGAIN, and this time when asked what to do with the word file, choose RENAME, and when asked what to do with the image files, choose REPLACE (or SKIP) and check "apply to all".

LR version 2 will not have this problem, promise.

I tried that, KL, but my LR said its "integrity has been broken" and I ended up reinstalling the whole thing and losing all I've  downloaded so far. Now I translate word by word and it is a pain...
