How does the 12 months work? I'm confused!

Can anyone help me by explaining how the semesters/12 months work? Do I purchase LR and then only have twelve months to use it?  What if I have another child who is using it at the same time and needs more help? 

I've heard some mention of "lifetime," but can't find that on the product page.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is a 12 month curriculum that does not expire. You can use it over and over again for your kids.

Hi Hope Journey,

By "lifetime," we mean you can keep using the Little Reader software forever -- so you can definitely use it for all your kids and your future ones too! The same thing applies to Little Math.

"6/12 months" or "Semester 1 / Semester 1+2" simply indicate the amount of lesson content you'll get with your purchase. As you may already know, the full LR curriculum goes for 12 months, divided into two semesters (thus "Semester 1+2"), but you can get LR with just half of the curriculum (Semester 1) if you like. For some parents, they just go with Semester 1 content and create / download their own lessons to continue their child's lessons after finishing Semester 1.

Either way, whether you get Semester 1 or Semester 1+2, you may keep re-using these lessons for each of your kids and reviewing certain parts as needed. Later on, you can start creating your own lessons or download some from our Downloads Library, to help build up each child's vocabulary and knowledge.

how does it work with new versions? Can we upgrade having bought any of the products?
Maybe as new versions are delivered, they will run on differente versions of wondows and in time you will not support the old windows so we would have to upgrade the PC operating system?

Hi 2010BEBES,

I'm assuming you're asking about what will happen if you buy LR/LM now, and then we release an update (or new versions, etc) later on.

As what we have been doing for a long time now, regardless of whether you buy the download-only or physical (box set) LR/LM, you can always access upgrades for free -- all you need to do is to download the installer for the new software version, or the updated lesson content files, from your BrillKids Account page. The files you can download from your Account page are always the latest versions, and you can always go back and download them all again as necessary.

For major updates (new software versions and curriculum updates), we always post an announcement about it here in the Forum (and we also send emails), so you will always be informed about these, and what you need to do to get your updates.

Regarding software versions, we always test every new LR/LM version on different Windows systems (32- and 64-bit Windows XP, Vista, and 7, in particular), so you can be sure that LR/LM will always work on the Windows version that you have. You don't need to upgrade your OS to be able to run each new version of Little Reader or Little Math!

Thankm you Kezia for all the information. I was thinki that once you bought the program you get stuck with that version. It a wonderfull that we can upgrade.
I hope to be able to buy it soon.
