Important POLL - What's your Internet connection speed? (Please help answer!)

One of the questions that has long term implications on how we offer Little Reader concerns the Internet speed of users.

See, with all the new videos we're adding, we're looking at almost anything between 150Mb - 300Mb's worth in total (depending on how much we compress the video quality), and that's just the 6 months version.  12 months would likely be double that.

If everyone were on broadband then I'd be less concerned, but I realize some or maybe many of you might not be.

Can you please let us know:

1. What is your Internet connection type? (dialup, Broadband ADSL, Broadband cable, wifi, etc.)


2. What is the connection speed (if you know)? (eg., 700 Kbps, 2 Mbps, 6 Mbps, etc.)
and is it stable?


3. Do you think a 200Mb download would be too much for you?  What about 400Mb or even 600Mb?
(For your reference, LR currently is at about 20Mb).

4. If you're unsure about 3, then how long (minutes/hours) would you be willing to spend to download everything?


5. If you had an option to pay extra (amount to cover materials and postage, let's say US$20 for Fedex delivery worldwide), would you rather have all the content on disc(s) rather than having to download?



Please give us your feedback on the above, and anything related you can think of!

1Mb(thanks Sheeberry) stable though speed still varies 'cause more computers use it
200Mb chunks are OK, I leave it overnight sometimes, bigger files get interrupted

ok i'm on broadband, 10mb, wireless ..... didn't try bit torrent before so not sure how long it would take .....

but instead of disc and cover .... maybe you can sell 512mb or 1gb SD card... its cheap, its light weight, and smaller than a stamp ....  registered mail may work .... and they can recycle the sd card .... so maybe they would be happy to pay for it ...?? just a suggestion though no idea how it would work .... maybe the mail shorter would crash it ..... but it would be like a credit card thick right???

My internet connection speed is only up to 4Mbps, broadband run through wifi. It varies, if everyone here at home uses his computer, it's only 1-1.5Mbps.

The bigger the file, the better the quality. Small files can be too pixelated especially for videos. All of us here have different connection speed, so I guess it's better if we have options what size or quality of file we like to download (HQ, Medium Quality, or Low Quality).

For me, I'd rather download than pay extra for the shipping.

1/ Wifi, but I have also access to broadband
2/ My wifi connection is 54Mbps and is usually more stable in the night
3/ I could probably manage 200MB ok, but above that I'm wondering if the program could be packaged into lets say 100MB (or 200MB) rar files
4/ 200MB takes me about 40min
5/ I'd rather download

i think i will have to have a cd shipped to me.
it took me about an hour to download LR. the connection is also not very stable (i dont know why)

the speed says 460 kbps

1.  My connection is Tri-band which comes through an adsl router. 

2.  My internet connection speed is 256kbps.  The connection is up and down.  Lately is has been much better, but the monsoons are coming and I am sure that will effect the connection here. 

3.  I think that 200mb would be a problem unless I had a way being able to download it in smaller pieces.  I have never had sucess so far with anything over 100mb, but I have not really tried lately. 

4.  I would be willing to download during the night while sleeping, so time is not a major factor. 

5.  Since the mail is not always dependable here, downloading would be my choice.

2)According to speedtest.com, it is .22mbps
3)LR took about an hour, so 200mb would take 10 hours???  I don't really understand the process, but I think that might be too big for me.
4) Could it be downloaded in sections?  My rural connection gets unrealiable at night.  I would be prepared to spend 10-12 hours downloading as long as I could do it in one hour or less sections/pieces.
5)I still think I would prefer to download it, as long as I could do it over a few weeks.

2)connection speed 8Mb

3) gonna be a bit slower, but its will be fine..

4)15 - 30 minutes to download will be suffice

5) I rather download but if its seems difficult, mayb the delivery will be the best option..
