@tigerpuff: You can customize your Little Reader lessons in such a way that you can personalize the curriculum to change or add your own pictures, videos, and pronunciations, and in addition to that you can create your own lessons from scratch.
With this said, yes, you can create new categories containing new words with your own media files, so you can teach whatever topics you want to your child, in addition to what's included in the curriculum
To clarify about "replace," yes, you may also edit the actual words in your curriculum, so if you like you can even edit your entire curriculum (and change everything from the words to the all the media files). So for example, if you want to use the British "Mummy" instead of "Mommy" (which is the default word), or you want to change it to "Mom / Mum" instead, you may do so.
For details on which functions you'll be working on to create your own set of lessons, you may refer to the Little Reader manual, which you may find in LR's Support > Manual screen, or you may simply visit this link:
http://support.brillkids.com/little-reader-manual.phpI suggest that you check out these sections of the manual:
- Editing Categories
- Editing Playlists
- Creating and Editing Words
@TracyR4: Yes, you can also print out any lesson you create in LR as flash cards, in the same way that you can print out a few or a set of slides from the official curriculum. All these printing tasks can be set and done via the Print screen.
I hope this clarifies things for both of you. Do let me know if you need further help!
