Laptop Hard drive is dead! HELP!!

I am very upset this week cuz my laptop was broken.  Not only that, the files in the hard drive are still in danger! We're still not sure if we would be able to restore them.  I have backup for all my pic and videos...but I haven't done any backup for my LR files yet!  All my effort is GONE!
My question is: once I got a new HDD to get my laptop up and running, can I use the same license key to download LR to it? Please advise.  And some comfort pleeeeaseeeeeeee.  >

Don't worry, it's gonna be Ok (that's the comfort part )
You can transfer your license key to your next laptop and download any of your own files you had uploaded (if you did)

If there are still files you need to recover, it is often (but not always) possible to retrieve files off a hard drive.  If you are interested my husband said he would be happy to reply with the details after he gets home from work.

That's right; there are programs that can be used to retrieve files. Also, you want to make sure it is the hard drive that has a problem and not something else. Because if it is something else, then you can easily get all your files off the hard drive, even use it as an external hard drive, if you'd like.

Thank you so much for your comfort and help.  Yes, it is the hard drive that's dead.  For those you have never thought of this, like me....it turns out that you're not supposed to walk/move around with your laptop while it's running.  I'd never thought about this because gee...I thought laptop was MADE for that purpose!!!     I use the laptop to get my son to crawl while LR is running...that's what makes it motivating!
Anyway...thought I should share because it's NEWS to me.
I only download some of my files to LR and those I can recover.  But some other newer files that are still "in-progress" are gone.  Well....time heals the wound because I find that I'm less upset as time goes by.  I know I can always redo them.  The important thing is to get the new laptop to run again.  I just received my recovery disk from the vendor...so hopefully soon.
