Basic LR or Deluxe? 1 semester or 2?

Okay, I'm convinced I need to purchase LR, but would love your input to help me decide which one.

I'm currently doing ppt presentations, Reading Bear, Starfall, and flashcards with my 22 month old.  Having said that, would Basic LR be fairly sufficient?  (If you've read any of my other posts, please forgive my redundancy.)  The cost is certainly more appealing.    

Additionally, if I purchase one semester, is it possible to later purchase the second one?  Do most people purchase both semesters?

Any other factors that swayed you one way or the other?

Ok this is a pretty personal choice but maybe this will help a bit. I purchased both semesters in the basic LR. ( and the math) My reasons were that i like the idea of a full one year progressive curriculum. I am lazy and plug and play works for me!    the deluxe adds books and bits that I already have other versions of. If your child loves books and you think they will get a kick out of being able to read a book or you don't have a bunch of easy readers at home then maybe a deluxe would be good. However you can print from LR and make your own books and you are also doing reading bear and star fall so it's not going to be necessary.
You can get the minimum and add later. Also if you are more likely to make your own LR files then you could get just one semester and make your own stuff for the rest of the year/ 2 or 3 years! It is time consuming to make them, but sometimes time is cheaper! If the budget is tight then Just get LR and semester 1 then make files for math and to extend the curriculum with your own and downloaded files. If you think you might fall of the wagon get the full one year curriculum

My son really enjoys the BrillKids storybooks and pattern phonics flip cards that come with the LR deluxe package.
Pressing play definitely works for me too and having the full two semsters of course content has saved me ALOT of time in creating flashcards and presentations.  I feel that is has been well worth the price and BrillKids gives 10% of your purchase price to charity.

My son has a pretty big library of books and we have many ppt presentations, plus Montessori nomenclature cards, so we'll probably go with Basic LR.  Though if I wasn't planning on purchasing a math and music program as well, we would probably splurge for the Deluxe.

I am going to buy LR program and I had the same question whether it should be Basic or Deluxe. My son is 20 months and he has already had much exposure to reading and books. In fact I was using a different reading program since he was 3 month old. He can read now and he has a lot of interest in LR Touch app for the iphone. I am thinking that I should get this program for him as well to keep his interest going and expand his vocabulary. Thanks to the comments I feel that Basic will be sufficient and he can go straight to the books later.
