little reader in linux??

I use linux mostly...i also have vista on my comp but its not the easiest thing to keep restarting from linux to vista to use this ay way to get it working in linux? i have crossover and wine which are used to install windows applications but neither want to run the reader

Sorry, Serena, right now we only support Windows.  After that, Mac will be next. I honestly cannot tell you whether we will ever do a Linux version as there doesn't seem to be much demand for this.  But hopefully one day we will find an easy way to port Little Reader to Linux and we'll have a Linux version some time!

I had a look, and filed a bug with some details,

The short story is, the Brill folks are using COM+
and OleDB, which Wine doesn't implement yet,
and probably won't ever.   Perhaps when they port
to the Mac they will ditch the Microsoft database
layer and replace it with something svelte and portable,
at which point a Linux port would be easy.

Lord save us from software vendors that target Windows
first and use all sorts of Microsoft-specific tools... oh, wait,
I work at one :-)  :-(

Thanks Dan for your indepth look at getting Little Reader on Linux. Karma point for ya.
Linux will probably have to wait for a long time unless winehq can help by implementing COM+ and OleDB.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but the reason why we don't have mac or linux version up is because we wouldn't be able to troubleshoot during beta testing since we don't use those systems.

And we take great pride in the level of service we can provide for our users!

A side note, I think Mac is testing a method to implement the .NET framework for Mac users. If that's the case, we will be able to provide for Mac users soon enough.

Hi,

I just noticed this thread. Had remembered seeing this, but couldn't find it. I've installed Windows and LR/LM just fine with QEMU under Ubuntu. This will work with Mac and Linux too. Started a thread http://forum.brillkids.com/little-reader/little-readerlittle-math-in-linux-solution/
