I've been using Doman Flash card (words) for a week on my 10 mth old boy. He seems to be interested on the first 3 days and now he's totally not interested on it. But he's okay with the dots card (math). And I found this LR from youtube. I've yet to try it out on my boy as I've just downloaded the trial software yesterday.

For the Doman method, we hv to flash the word for 3 times a day, flash for 5 days. (15 times in total) so that the kids can remember those words. But I just found that LR method, vocab in session 1 and session 2 are some sort different. How could the boy remember those word then?

Can anyone share with me? As I'm wondering should I get this LR for my boy.

Cecilia,

I hope you are trying LR at least 2 times a day. The words are repeated on following days and some replaced by knew ones. I consider LR much more than flashing words. There are many benefits because you can personalize the images or videos with familiar faces or objects around your child's environment. Another important thing is that you can use this product to teach your kid languages. For now we have the basic english product and Chinese curriculum. They are workin on the French and Spanish Curriculum. nevertheless there are many downloads from this forum members and we can start using different languages.

i hope yo decide to use it and keep us posted.

Hi. I tried it only once. And since we connect the laptop to the TV, my kids wanted to play the keyboard instead of watching the TV. That's the problem.

Cecilia - I am a mother of a 3 1/2 year old and I have tried ALL METHODS.  I have used the Doman flashcards, the Tweedlewinks, the Doman Picture dictionary and LR.  LR wins handsdown.  The new animation is even better and makes it very attractive.  My daughter of course still prefers the older  real pictures version only because she has used it before. I am now going to take the Chinese content package.  I can guarantee LR is better - though I am not writing off Doman flashcards.  All these programs are based on the Doman studies... but LR has an edge.

Hi Indidee, since when did you start using the doman flash card? since my boy is still below 1 year old, he really likes to play with the keyboard instead of watching it. If I connect it to the TV, still, he'll run infront of the TV to play other stuff. I would think that LR is more suitable for children above 2 year old (perhaps? that's what i guess). Thanks for your sharing and I'll consider using LR when my boy is above 1 1/2 yr old.

Sorry for the delayed response. I only read about Brillkids and knew about it after my daughter turned 1.  I assumed if I had started earlier, she would've gained much more.  To be honest, I had downloaded tons of youtube clips of rhymes, songs and stories which I was using till then - including ABCs and 123s.  I think the trick was music - it helps.  I started LR when she was abour 1 1/2 and it was continuous since then for just a year.  She had already picked up way before that.  But to be honest, LR and YBCR made the difference.  Do let me know if this is helpful.

Cecilia-

Can you connect the  laptop to the television and place it out of his reach? On a high table or something.

That might detract from wanting to bang the keyboard if he can't reach it. Some parents like to show LR/LM during a meal or snack time when the child is sitting in their high chair anyway. Whatever you find that seems to work, keep up with it *consistently* at the same time of day for at least a week or so (as long as he's enjoying it) and you may find that he grows to expect it and it;s just a normal part of his day. In our house, we choose to show it every morning at breakfast, first thing, and then we squeeze in another session at some other point during the afternoon. Consistency is key.
