i posted an elaborate bug report with the form and all and i cant seem to find it posted  confused
but this one is easier -
when you try to access the web from in the reader to download or other jobs, it automatically spawns internet explorer - an anathema to my computer - and it drastically drains my resources - how about some love for firefox users?  i think its a simple routine ...

I know what you mean. I'm a Firefox lover too. The reason why it spawns IE is because LR is set to use the IE browser within LR, so whatever pops up from within LR will naturally be IE.  I do agree IE is a big hog on resources.  Will have a chat with the programmers and see if we can let it use whatever is the system's default browser instead of forcing it to use IE.
BTW, have you checked out Google's new browser Chrome - it's awesome, even faster than Firefox!  ohmy

Have you tried it? I wasn't sure if I should wait to see if it was buggy. Does it have the same features of firefox and ie?

Yep. In terms of speed, IE is slow, Firefox is fast, and Chrome is super fast!

The only thing keeping me tied to Firefox right now is the bookmark add-on that let's me access all my bookmarks quickly. When Chrome has many good third-party add-ons too, I'll probably go for Chrome.

This is my first day using LR... What a great discovery! But I just wanted to ditto what you're saying about IE... It crashes every time I use it and I'm hooked on FireFox now.  Will try Chrome though... Thanks for the info!

We've changed it for the Release version so taht the Download screen will default to the user's default browser.
