New Build Release - Little Reader BETA 1.04The new beta build is out, and we have a list-long full of features! We’re getting very near to perfecting Little Reader, and we have you – our beta testers – to thank for it!
NOTE: Your previous version will need to be uninstalled, but you do not have to do it manually. Simply click on the installation file and it will prompt you to uninstall your old program and proceed to do it for you. If you've already added new words, not to worry, just
make sure NOT to choose to delete all of your existing files during the uninstall. When you open your new Little Reader, your files will still be there.
You can check your beta version by clicking on the '
HELP' dropdown on the upper left corner of Little Reader and clicking on '
About Little Reader.'
Here’s a list of changes and improvements we've made: The Folder SystemYou can now create folders where you can drag and drop categories or playlists which you would like to group together to help you better organize your Little Reader library.
Main Button Bar layoutWith new features come new buttons, and we’ve reorganized the layout of Little Reader to accommodate all the new things it can do!
Picture EditorThe Picture Editor has now been unlocked! Do some minor editing to your images – crop them, resize them, make them brighter, or even
DRAW on them – the Picture Editor will let you do all these and more, with an easy-to-use interface.
Sound RecorderWant to record your voice or some music but can’t locate the recorder? Pressing the Sound Recorder button will automatically open the Windows default sound recorder for you.
The Quick Play button in Word Library You no longer have to switch to the Playback Screen to play your library files. Immediately play your newly created categories and playlists from the Word Library Screen by simply clicking on the Quick Play button.
Two New Playback SettingsWe’ve added a couple of new features that you can use when adjusting your playback settings for your playlists:
• Save Settings – This will save the playback settings for only the playlist you are editing it for.
• Save as Default – After adjusting the playback settings, using the Save as Default will effectively apply those settings to all the new playlists you create.
New Buttons and Features when Editing WordsYou can record and edit your images and sound files on the same screen where you edit your words – the functions you need the most are just a button-click away!
New Importing FeaturesWe’ve added a few new features to the Import functions:
• Display Playlist or Category after Importing – After importing a category or playlist, you will automatically be taken to the Word Library screen which highlights your newly imported item.
• The Combine Function - To help you resolve file conflicts, we’ve added the combine function, which works as a way to merge categories and words along with their attached media files.
The "Auto Playlist" ButtonWe’ve added a new button to the Word Library Screen when viewing categories – the Auto Playlist button. This will enable you to select any category you like and turn it into a Playlist with just one click.
Support for Flash Video in .FLV Format For those of you who are interested in attaching videos to their categories and playlists, Little Reader now supports files in .FLV format, which will make for smaller video file sizes without compromise in quality.
Screen Name functionLast - but not the least – we’ve added the Screen Name function to the Import-Export Screen: this will tag your categories and playlists with your BrillKids forum user name so that when you export files to share with others, people will know who authored the category or playlist as displayed on their Little Readers.
