Optimal lesson time with your children using Little Reader??

Anyone has any good lesson timing or schedule to share using Little Reader?? I have yet to try out with my Joel but the software really looks exciting. But I do not know what to start him off with?

It mostly depends on your child's interest. They may be interested at any time of the day or may be more interested when they just wake up or before they go to sleep. They may want to see 3 categories, or they may want to see 8.
My son is interested pretty much any time of day. I normally show him 3 categories and one math spot category a day, 3 times a day. After I show the 4 categories, I wait until a little later in the day before showing them again. Every day I show new categories and retire the ones from the previous day to a "played" folder. I also show him "family" and "grandparents" once a day.

I think you will find that everyone has very different ways of playing Little Reader. There isn't really a right or wrong way. It really just depends on your child. You will find out what works best after using the program for a while. Just remember to keep it fun!

Thanks for the advice from Nohockaday. Just tried the 1st trial lesson with my son. He shows a lot of interest in the animal category (practically because of the sound effect) then his interest level drops as I move on to other categories which do not have pictures or sound. Will try out your advice tomorrow. Maybe 2 categories and 1 maths dots with him.

I am wondering if we can customise the maths dots to multiples of 2, 3 , 4 and so forth. The current maths dots that I have is only from 1 to 10. Any advice from anyone.

In  Download Section under Little Reader Files - Math you can download math dots 1-100. They are in groups of 5 pictures of dot cards. Then you can create your own playlists choosing just the dot cards you want to show. This way you can show multiples of 2, 3, 4 and so on.

It's progressing, but slowly, cos of diversion of resources to Little Reader.

Hopefully we'll get first beta out sometime in September, latest October!

I've probably just missed this somewhere else, but I've run across a few different posts and now I'm confused...how long should I pause between showing the word and then the picture?  Should it be quick or should there be a short pause? 

We are using Little Reader along with YBCR dvd so our normal schedule is YBCR shortly after we wake up, Little Reader twice durring the day 3-4 categories at a time always including math (but maybe I'm going to fast) and then YBCR again in the late afternoon early evening.

Little Math will also have a beta-testing stage, so when we launch it, no payment is necessary during beta. In case anyone got confused, Little Math is a separate program from Little Reader - NOT the math dots sets that come with Little Reader or that can be downloaded.

It depends on which method you are going for.  You could do it the slow, 'multi-sensory' way and take as long as you like between each slide, or you could do the rapid flash card method which means you go as fast as you can. There are some other topics on the Forum about flash card method, and also see the Tip I wrote (I think Tip#1) about using Little Reader for flash card method.
We generally encourage parents to do both methods for variety.
