Okay, I'd wanted to use Little Reader and Little Math for my little one. Thing is, I use Ubuntu. I have a dual boot, but its really painful to stop everything I'm doing, shutdown and reboot when I spot Nisarg awake and cheerful. By the time I'm done with that, its likely that he's back asleep, or hungry, or needs a change, or whatever.
Solution is QEMU.
You basically create an image file and run a virtual machine on it. So I'm working on my ubuntu, and I have a window with a windows install in it. Now this is a proper windows install, which you install like a new machine (and it reboots and all within the window), so anything you can do on windows, you can do on this
It is a bit slow at times, particularly downloads..... but LR and LM run fine, which is pretty much all I use it for, so all is well in the world.
I wouls say install first, check that every thing (particularly sound) works before installing LR/LM trials, or you will end up wasting trial time
