Hi, MIP1999,
Like I always say, there are no hard and fast rules to anything, only guidelines, which you should treat as something optional to follow, and not as something to enslave you. There is no magic formula. Each child is different, and will respond differently, and respond differently at different times too.
Our curriculum does not follow any method. Not Doman, not Shichida, not Robert Titzer. It is unique to itself, structured based on Little Reader's unique features, since the method of delivery of the lessons is different compared with physical flash cards or dvd's. You should be worried if we simply copy what others do.
The word flash and picture flash sessions are based on right-brain learning, where the flashing is fast. The multisensory session uses the, um, multisensory method. We believe in the effectiveness of both methods and hence we included both.
If your child responds better to fewer words, then show fewer words. If he responds better to words with pictures, then show him both the words and pictures. You can do that easily with Little Reader.
Our curriculum is for 2 semesters and is there for you to use, or not. Use it if you find it helpful, don't if you prefer something else. Again, no should's or shouldn'ts there. Whether or not you choose to follow it, we will continually be creating new content, which you can use even during the time you are following the curriculum, or after the 2 semesters finish. Up to you, depending on what you feel is best given your son's attention span and interests. I'm sure we will eventually extend the curriculum beyond 2 semesters, but there are no plans yet as we will be doing foreign language curricula first and other things before we get to that.
Hope that helps!
