why are the photo or sound files disapper?

Hi,

I download some files from siteand tried them few times, since last night  when I used them for my baby, the pop up says some media files missing, can someone tell what was happen.

It sounds like you pressed the wrong thing on the warning pop-up when importing. Did you get a pop-up saying warning! Your library already contains ____?

Try deleting the categories and try re-importing them again, but rename any files that you get a warning on. Let me know if this helps.

I don't think she's talking about the import warning, Nikki, but a recent feature we added to the last build (1.05) in response to problems people like Nohayo experienced because their pictures used to be on the desktop when they added them to LR and then they moved the pictures somewhere else.

Fatmami, can I ask you what categories have this missing media message?  Is it a Category you created, or something you imported?
If the former, then the most likely reason is taht you've moved the media files since adding them to the Category.  If the latter, then please let me know which Category(s).

All those files e.g animal,action words, colors, everyday phrases, family etc.,...... from the favories that from the little reader beta  have the same problem, the pop-up show this messages :

The following media files referenced in one or more word files are missing from the expected location and therefore cannot be desplayed:

animal - bird (pro) 1.mp3
animal - cat (pro) 1.mp3
animal - chicken (pro) 1.mp3
animal - dog (pro) 1.mp3
animal - duck (pro) 1.mp3
animal - frog (pro) 1.mp3
animal - horse (pro) 1.mp3


Do you want to continue with the playback? yes or no

that's very strange.

It worked at first after installing LR, right?  It seems like the entire Media Library folder is no longer where it should be.

Can you check C:\....\My Documents\BrillKids\Little Reader\Media Library\ and see whether the Media Library folder is still there, and if so, whether those media files are there?  Did you happen to accidentally move or erase the folder or files? (or did you child?  )

In any case, the easiest thing would be to reinstall LR.  When uninstalling, it will ask you whether or not to delete previous media library, and delete the existing Categories, word files, etc.  Make sure you check the "delete previous media library" at least.  If you didn't change your Word Library too much, then also delete the existing Categories, Playlists etc.

By deleting the past ones, when you reinstall, LR will give you a fresh set of everything that comes on default.

I just encountered a similar problem, but it was because I moved the files. I thought when you create a new category the sound and pics files get automatically imported to the 'Media library' folder, but alas.. So I guess the solution is to move all your files you want to work with to the Media library folder first, before creating a new category, or after you're done with the new category you'll have to exported and imported again... Am I right? Would there be any way to make the program to integrate the used files into the Media folder automatically? Just wondering..

Well, you don't even need those files to be in the media library in the first place, so you could leave them exactly where they were.

1.06 will be out soon which will have it's own "Easy Voice Recorder" - all audio files recorded using it will be put into the Media Library (sub-folder) by default.
