With the new version 2 of LR  can  i translate the whole LR  curriculum,when i have little computerknowledge ?.Can I translate  with the new LR version also  the phonics part?Thank you

Even with the current version of LR, you can translate the curriculum into your own language if you want to. I bought LR last year and I was able to translate almost all of it into Chinese (this was before the Chinese curriculum was available). You can also make new LR files in your language about any topic you like. It is really very easy to do as long as you have access to the internet to search for images/pics and a microphone to record your voice speaking the words in your language.

Did you see isapabi's LR files? She has already translated the LR curriculum into German. See her uploaded files here: http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=myfiles;u=172

She only needs a German speaker to record the audio into the LR files. If your computer is set up with a microphone, you can record your voice into the files and have the LR curriculum in German.

Yes, as aangeles mentioned, it is possible to translate LR lessons, but in the current version of LR, you can only translate the Categories. Right now you can only translate Categories -- this is not the same as the "Curriculum."

The curriculum is what you see in the "Courses" tab of Little Reader, with the lessons filed in Day 1, 2, 3, etc. folders, while Categories are what you see in the "Categories" tab.

If you've noticed, each lesson in the "Courses" tab contains some of the words from each Category (in general, you'll have 3-6 words from 3 categories in each day's lesson).

In the Categories tab of LR, you will find some buttons at the bottom which will let you add or edit your categories, and the same goes for the set of buttons below each word list -- these are what you'll need to translate the English Categories (or whenever you create your own categories).

You may find detailed instructions on how to create or translate LR Categories in your LR Manual. You may access this by clicking on the MANUAL button in LR, or by going to http://support.brillkids.com/little-reader-manual.php. To guide you, these are the articles related to what you are looking for:

Again as I've mentioned in my reply to sidonia's other post (I believe I'm the one who replied there), it's not yet possible to translate the entire English LR curriculum in the current version. If you really want to translate the curriculum, you can just edit the English Categories (change the words, pronunciations, etc.) -- but do note that if you change the "word file name" of the English Categories' words, this could cause an error. So, just change everything else but leave the word file names as is; this way you can use the Courses in the language you want, but in exchange you will lose your English courses.

If you want to keep your English courses, you can opt to just create a duplicate of your English Categories, then translate the copy into your language. Doing it this way, you can just play your own Categories separately, or put them in a playlist.

This may sound a bit complicated, so I've informed you that we are working on an easier way of doing this in the next version of LR.

hi, what is the easier way of translating LR and not losing the original? Since I read I could lose the english version I am scared to try it.

If you have created your own custom categories or playlists and would like to save these as a backup file. You can do so by exporting them as a Little Reader category or playlist file. Please see the guide below on how to do this:

Kindly note that you can only export categories and playlists and not the curriculum. However, the curriculum is always available for you to download via your BrillKids account. You can even download the Little Reader curriculum and save it on you computer first, therefore it is easily available for you, (no need to wait for download time) should you need to re-import the whole curriculum again.

One thing to keep in mind though, before re-importing any curriculum is to keep note of what lesson day in the curriculum you are currently on. This is handy because if you re-import the curriculum, you might lose the marker that shows you what day in the curriculum you were currently on.

As mentioned by Kezia in an earlier post, the manual guides you through in how to create and translate your Little Reader categories and playlists. I recommend checking out the manual articles Kezia mentioned (Editing Categories, Creating Words, Editing Words) when you have some time.

In addition, we also have many support articles about using Little Reader. Below is short article about how to edit words. It's a good place to get you started on translating your own categories. Basically you edit a word to change it from one language to another, i.e. you can edit the English word red to the French word rouge.

Just to add, I think you will find the new "Save As" feature (In the Add/Edit Word window) quite useful for your translating project. This will save your word file as a duplicate/copy, so you can work on your translations using the duplicate word without accidentally editing your original English word file.

hi, since I read I could accidentally delete the original English word files I was scared to do it. With a great help from Martina (pupisek) over the Skype I have learnt it. Now I understand better how great it the software
