Yippeeeee.. My baby can actually read!!!

Dear All,

After going through all the material and videos i still had doubts that babies and in particular my baby can actually read at such a small age.. I bought LR and LM with the perception that even if she doesn't learn, its nt going to harm her..

Now I am on day 55 of LR and whats great is that my baby who is 14 months can actually read several words.. Not only that, she knows all the parts of the body. quiet a lot of animals, fruits etc.

Sure there is a great way ahead for my Baby..

I would like to thank the entire team of LR from bottom of my heart for building such a great content.

Congratulations!!! I too was not sure if all these programs would work for my child but they did and I can not begin to express my gratitude towards BrillKids, other programs and especially the parents here on this forum.

That's great!  I have always been been convinced that you can teach a baby to read since about 12 years ago when I stumbled upon the book "How to Teach your Baby to Read".  It was very much by chance as I found the book in my host family's house in Mexico (I was doing a language program).  I read it to practice my Spanish and found it very interesting.  It seems so common sense that if a baby can learn spoken language (I think people take for granted how amazing that is) why wouldn't they be able to learn a written language?  It is all just symbols whether it be sounds or letters. 

When my sister had a baby I bought the book for her.  My family basically laughed at me.  She never read it.  She just left it at my mom's house.  My mom gave me back the book when I had my baby a year ago.  I do the LR program with my son and even though I believe it will work it is easy to wonder if he recognizes any words.  I am sure he does but it is hard to believe even when you believe in it until you see the proof yourself.  If that makes any sense.

In any case, my baby knows all the body parts and a lot of vocabulary that I am sure he has picked up from (or at least has been reinforced by) LR.  So he is definitely learning.  I can't wait to see him actually read.  It must be very exciting.

Congratulations!!!! I know exactly what you feel. I felt the same wway when I found out that my little boy can read the words. That was amazing and still since then he surprises me all the time. He is 3 now and learn more and more every day.

Congratulations and believe me it will only get better by the day.  By the time your daughter turns 2, she will be reading almost at grade 2 levels and will be a voracious reader.  Dont push her math responses if it doesn't seem to work as quickly though.  I know my daughter has responded as much to LR as she has not to LM.  So dont worry if she doesn't seem to be responding to LM as quickly.

For the parents whose babies r still nt reading.. I would advice to just enjoy the sessions..

I wish my baby can increase her vocabulary to a g8 extent as she grows..

Happy to know your bb can read ! Just at day 55 too.
I started my bb with LR at 11 months & now at day 72.
My girl knows her body parts too when asked but she does not say out the words/read.
I just want to know if any parents/all of you parents sit down beside bb to repeat the words to bb ?
Also the multisensory part, do you all take the time or just auto forward that part like myself ?
Any good suggestions for me as I am also very eager to see my bb start reading too !

Congratulations to You for such wonderfull results. I think there are many LR users that as you started not really convinced that their child would read so fast and are surprised when they do. We have never test my grandaughter but just seeing how happy she gets when we play the lessons is rewarding.
I too can not stop thanking LR developers for such a great word and thanking you for sharing.

Hi Latreia,

I do sit with my son and interact with him during the multisensory part of the lessons.
I talk to him about the picture and reinforce the words learned during the lessons with flashcards.
My son has only recently started showing us what he has learned.
The best thing you can do is to make the lessons fun so your child will look forward to them.
Everytime I turn on BrillKids my son gives me a kiss.

Thx alot for your advice. I will sit down with my bb.
Actually she always look forward to her LR session as whenever I mention
computer lessons, she will be very delighted to get her seat & can sit for 1/2 an hour each time,
for LR, LC &ＬＭ．

Hi Latreia,

I am glad she loves BrillKids. 
I have heard that when you teach a baby more than one language there can be a slight speech delay.
We are currently teaching our son withLm, LR, LC and various other Spanish, Mandarin and Hindi programs.
They say the speech delay is not significant unless it is more than 7 languages being taught at the same time.
I have noticed a slight speech delay in our son and have cut back on alot and put more emphasis into English for now.
That maybe the reason why you are not hearing your daughter say the words while she is showing you she understands them.
Keep doing what you are doing she may know how to read she just has not verbalized it yet.
And if she doesn't she will if you keep teaching her.

Congratulations, HemalShah! It's very encouraging to read posts like yours. I've just started the LR program with my 8 month old. We're on day 20. I wouldn't say she's enthusiastic about it, but she's willing, and that's enough for now. Especially when I read testimonials of where it could lead in a very short time.

Keep it up and please keep posting on progress.

Dear Melanie,

Thx for your encouragement.
From where we come from, it's normal to speak at least 3 languages plus afew dialects.
So it could be a little confusing for now, but my bb understands instructions in Chinese &
she say things out in English ie, fish, bear, cat, car park, bag, bird, duck, dog etc.
We also read out Bible verses printed out & when I recite she knows which one & point to it.
Hope she will read out soon, we will keep it up, thx again !
